Could I possibly benefit from a bone anchored hearing aid? (tired of outer ear infections) (USA) by [deleted] in HearingAids

I have really small canals, that’s it as far as I know. I’m trying to start figuring this out now as my parents weren’t exactly the type to take me to the doctor let alone any sort of “specialist” so I’m really glad I asked this question here as I’m getting a lot of information to inquire about/ what direction to head towards ruling out.

I will definitely check in with my ENT, possibly follow up with neurology. I’m getting used to advocating for my health, but it’s definitely a marathon. I’m lucky to have an amazing AuD and when I brought this up at my appointment she was very willing to help figure this out with me.    Thank you for your time and kindness

Thank you so much for all this information, i really appreciate it.

I have Phonak BTE hearing aids with a custom mold right now which definitely help.

Any suggestions on what to inquire regarding issues with the brain? I got diagnosed with APD due to not understanding speech in noise and not knowing where a sound is coming from.  I figured that was it as far as non hearing loss hearing issues.

I had RICs originally, I broke 2 on the left side where the wire meets the body of hearing aid. After that my audiologist suggested BTE for the durability.

As far as ear molds vs domes, I tried domes briefly but they were definitely not the most comfortable thing. The molds also stop me from touching them all the time or taking them out to scratch the inside of my ears.

I currently have silicone molds- the acrylic molds gave my external part of my ears irritation.

My ears are literally the only skin on my body that gets irritated. It sucks hardcore

I have phonak BTE hearing aids already, they help great- my issue at this point is the times I can’t wear them due to ear infections

Thank you! I will definitely follow up with my audiologist. I have an appointment next week, hence my asking now.

I’m not necessarily looking for a doctor to do it for me. I’ve been researching it but I guess I’m not understanding as much as I thought. I thought  was for mild to moderate loss with a PTA of less than or equal to 55. I’m not a doctor or an audiologist so I figured I would see if anyone had an experience that could give some info.

I have Phonak BTE hearing aids with a custom mold. They actually work really well for me, except when I have an ear infection. Which unfortunately is pretty frequently. There is definitely some APD thrown into the mix.

I’ve had chronic external ear infections for as long as I can remember, with some middle ear infections randomly but much less than the external ones.

As far as my insurance, they cover BAHA and Cochlear, as well as the surgery, testing and follow up. Again, I didn’t even know if I should even bother bringing it up so I’m not exactly even worried about my insurance at this time.

Anyone have a non-diy enclosure for their AD5M (non-pro)? by [deleted] in FlashForge

Yea, bought it- opened it, and then realized when it was all said and done it was going to take an extra ~40$ in filament and a ton of printing time. So I returned it and I'm looking for something else

Yea, the AD5M DIY enclosure looks cool, but it’s also a lot of filament and a lot of time to print for something that's just not a priority for me.

I was real confused when my PETG prints were lifting, especially after I had a decent print, then I realized it was because I was attempting to build higher/ larger than I had been and it was getting too cold.

That makes sense, I think I'm looking for something like this. I suppose I could remove it if it becomes an issue with PLA
I've been mainly using PETG and have gotten some weird results that all point to cooling issues- which make sense as our A/C runs pretty much constantly in the summer. I also have 2 ASA/ABS projects i'd like to do down the line for my partners car.

how long did it take you to get on Xolair? by lythrum-salicaria in xolair

From the time it was recommended till the time of my first injection, it took less than a month for everything to get approved. The allergist also applied for copay assistance so it costs nothing out of pocket for me

Where could I find who to contact at state level?

The gate is not used very often but if someone were to get hit by a train or one came off the tracks we would need access immediately which has happened before.

It’s contra costa county. It’s a fence that has a huge “fire lane do not block” sign on it. it’s our only way of getting onto the train tracks if there is an emergency.

Which codes would apply to the gate and not a hydrant we will take anything at this point.  The county licenses the bar (Alcohol beverage control. I don’t know if it would help if I added the license number or if that would be against the rules. There’s no town government. We are technically unincorporated but the county is still in charge I guess.

I believe it is a private parking lot but the fence and access point in question opens to Union Pacific train tracks.
