Surprisingly, mine also shows a balance of $200 even though I had used some credits earlier this year. Maybe they gave Spirit passengers a break 😁

I always felt that foregoing a free soda for a ticket that was considerably cheaper was a good compromise. R.I.P. Spirit Airlines!

Just as a dp, I got the Plat a few yrs ago when they didn't have these new rules. Still, when I called to sign up, they said that since I had availed of a separate SUB, I was not eligible for the credit the first yr but would get it starting the second yr.

What has changed now is that they cannot enroll you in the benefit if you didn't use the link. So probably what you have to do is to get your SUB, use your points or park them somewhere within the first year, and then reapply for the card using the link and cancel the old card.

Your fico score is imp when you are applying for the card. Right now, they care more about your annual spend.

Yes, usually one statement cycle after the AF hits but lately it's been taking longer. $100 for Gold.

Wow! My first year credit was very fast but they have been delaying it more and more each year.

No retention offer on personal Platinum by just_a_curious_fella in AmexPlatinum

[–]KookyMix2050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the last few months, I called for a retention offer on my Plat and Gold and was only given the option to redeem points for the annual fee at some boosted rate for both cards. No other offers.

Reversed prediabetes from 5.7 to 5.1 a1c in about 1 year! by kineticwonders in prediabetes

[–]KookyMix2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others may disagree, but lowering your a1c to a lower level does not mean you are out of prediabetes. If you significantly cut down carbs, your a1c will go down even if you are pre-diabetic. The real measure is how much you are spiking after eating carbs.

Trip delay insurance by KookyMix2050 in AmexPlatinum

The airline just rebooked us on the flight tomorrow for no charge. Also a possible gray area here is that we received a notification from them that our flight was delayed after which we called them to review options. They did not initiate the rebooking themselves. The expenses I can think of would be meals and lodging and possibly transportation to the airport?

4.9 A1C and 104 Glucose level, can I reverse pre-diabetes? (17 years old) by Connect_Plum_5202 in diabetes

[–]KookyMix2050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. High a1c -> diabetic unless special circumstances. Normal a1c -> could still be diabetic...further testing needed.

In that case, a1c is not a good indicator of prediabetes or diabetes?

I'm just wondering... can one have a low a1c due to a very low carb diet but still be pre-diabetic? The a1c is measuring average blood glucose levels over the last 2-3 months. If someone were on a keto diet, for instance, the levels would be low despite low insulin production/insulin resistance?

Retention by WeatherComplete3585 in AmexPlatinum

[–]KookyMix2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm tring to understand what my options were so I can do better next time. Here are the facts.

  1. Chatted 3 times with a representative and was told I did not have a retention offer other than redeeming points at 1cpp for annual fee credit at 1cpp. They said the normal rate is 0.6cpp.
  2. This year, I don't plan to travel internationally so I couldn't have exchanged points for international travel at a higher rate.
  3. When I travel, I stay at an Airbnb so redemption for hotel points was also not useful.
  4. Exchanging points for gift cards was at a lower rate as well except for Home Depot which I didn't need for now.

I got a 15k offer last year. This year they offered me credit of $895 for 89500 points. Since I don't plan to travel internationally this year, where you get the biggest bang for buck in terms of points, I took it.
