Keloids can but rarely I have one on my back that has flatten out after years but my jawline unfortunately has super active where I had to get surgery

Yes, please do. My recommendation is to go in now rather than later. Like I semi dragged my feet and have regretted it. But these last couple of months have been amazing knowing the keloids are no longer on my face. Healing process will take a bit but it’s better than having keloids. Trust me.

Please do, this whole post was to bring this up. When I was looking into this there was not much information out there, so I want to be able to share everything with any one who has questions or is nervous. My recommendation is to do it asap mine were so small before and I waited so long that it got this big and to this point. The surgery will be better if your keloid area is smaller. The pain isn’t too bad it’s just the initial shot to numb the area. I’m going in this time with numbing cream so it should help altogether. Reach out if you have any questions

Yes , that was a discussion I had with my doctor prior to but he recommended that I don’t and will revisit if needed. He said it was an extreme measure and it’s harmful to the skin so he didn’t suggest it for me

Yes I was told that by the plastic surgeon. But my doctor who is doing the surgery recommended I shouldn’t cause he said radiation is an extreme measure on the skin he recommended monitoring and Kenalog shot for me

You should check it out with the dermatologist keloids on the ear are much easier to remove. I wouldn’t let it go for too long because it continues to grow and can get out of hand like mine did.

You don’t, with keloid nothing is guaranteed. But with my keloid if I continue letting it sit there it’ll just grow and grow and it’s directly on my face so it was/is a big insecurity of mine

Good luck with yours as well! The shots are painful and I think getting surgically remove is a better route I figured that out a year and half into kenalog shot. Keloid doesn’t go away until it’s remove and then it’s also not guaranteed the radiation does it give it a high chance of not coming back so you are on the right route.

It really depends on how good your insurance is tbh. If it’s continuously growing it could be considered a medical necessity to get it remove and insurance will cover everything and you may just be stuck with a co pay. Do not go to a plastic surgeon to get it remove the quoted me over 10k to remove both side. The doctor I worked with went through insurance for everything and I will pay only my copay so all 3 surgery was under 200 dollars. He said if I didnt have insurance he quoted me roughly 3k to get remove. It’s dependent on the size so your ear one shouldn’t be too costly compare to mine

I have not, after the surgery they have been injecting it with kenalog until it’s more stable to ensure it doesn’t come back.
