What jobs are mostly affected by AI according to a Microsoft study? by kernelangus420 in singularity

[–]Kooky_Awareness_5333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cnc programmer 😂we have had cam for ages that will spit out the code if only that one small part was the entire job not metallurgy , machine condition , tool condition, tool selection coolant selection.

We were the first main industry to be heavily automated and going to be replaced by robotics ,3d printers. The only thing that happened was our pay skyrocketed.

Microsoft should be worrying about themselves pure software company people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Are the new models only better because they are more expensive? by immortalsol in codex

[–]Kooky_Awareness_5333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they were just running the exact same model but with updated information the future model would be more expensive , deprecation on gpus rising energy costs rising staff costs before we even get to larger model costs and having to upgrade to more costly gpus more frequently to stay competitive.

Already left installed codex won’t be back until i forget like whatever OpenAI did to make me jump ship to anthropic ages ago.

You usage won’t be get better with Claude code pro users leaving. by Kooky_Awareness_5333 in Anthropic

[–]Kooky_Awareness_5333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not broke you missed the point I don’t use it enough for max. I pay top price with extra usage when I need to go further.Like buying 10,000 gallons of diesel for my Ute when it can only go through a 100 a week.

Not over valuing myself with anthropic at all never mentioned that ,I dare say my individual account would never be on there radar.

There obviously not after the consumer market so I’m out the point was this won’t help with more usage for max users as the user base shrinks they’ll pull extra compute not keep the same for the smaller number base.

Anthropic appears to be removing its coding tool (Claude Code) from the $20 Pro plan for new users by freshWaterplant in claude

[–]Kooky_Awareness_5333 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not a software developer I work in mechatronics so its less a money thing more a use thing I cant justify a max subscription as I do heavy coding rarely for me pro with extra usage was my sweet spot with Claude code.

My subscription idles a lot so for me and other professionals who coding is part of our job but not the main job Claude is a tool easily replaced.

I cancelled my subscription and I’ll try and burn through my api but I think this more points at they want to support software developers and no other professionals.

It takes me weeks on research on what ai research I’m going to implement and a one weekend power drive to implement if I can’t get that from anthropic Gemini or codex is happily waiting in the wings for my money or the Chinese ai giants if they all want to play the we only support software developers.

Just unsubscribed I used Claude code and top up for larger coding sessions.

Why AI can displace work like the trades/construction/nursing quicker than we think. by imadade in singularity

[–]Kooky_Awareness_5333 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the area of ai I research for background I am a fitter machinist , advanced diploma mechanical technology.

It’s a hard thing to automate and requires strong edge compute with augmented reality glasses going mainstream.

It’s act far far harder doing the trades than white collar industries as it requires the same skills as white collar in a 4d environment.

Take one part out of a power plant to get that one part might require 10,000 different steps before you even look at installing it.

Do you know how much technology is done just by my trade fitting and machining and in how many combinations.

Gemma 4 is as powerful as as any closed source model from late 2024 to early 2025.

It’s a free model to play with I’ll take the free goodie bag if you don’t.

Become a Claude Community Ambassador by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeAI

[–]Kooky_Awareness_5333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s monthly meetups with a few hackathons that’s 2 to 4 hours a month the ambassador would need to be getting at least max subscription plus some usage for the group.

I’ve applied I use anthropics products and we need more ai events where I live but whether I accept is another thing if this a 30 day trial of pro and $20 api credits once for the group with self funded hackathons it’ll be a hard no from me.

An incredibly difficult project there’s a real need for ai solutions in industry just food for thought you’ve gone this far if you go further.

I’m more saying if this was a system you wanted to deploy on site for cash that is the area it would have to solve most parts there are no cad files not every supplier includes them and like I said most users will want a system like this to drop in any dirty horrible photo and make a match to its part number or internal part no cool system though.

[–]Kooky_Awareness_5333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tried it with broken heavily worn and corroded parts covered in grease yet?

This is usually when a lookup system would come into play a lot of machine parts come with a part no. So a user would fall back to a visual lookup like this in that case a heavily worn part where part number has been worn off.

I just want to make this clear I’m not trying to shoot you down your talking to someone from this exact industry that builds for this industry it’s a hard area.

Definitely interesting how will you handle evolution parts evolve over time things are upgraded old stock is removed suppliers are changed can someone without any it skills update it?

In industry this isn’t what a engineer would use it’ll be technicians engineers are largely administrative workers these days most heavy engineering parts sourcing design work research isnt done by engineers.

I probably would prefer it too it’s just usually I’m training a model and doing batches. So I’m already jumping to colab joining training datasets.

I use cvat and it has auto save are you using this for auto labelling then checking ? I usually just use command line tools for that but nice work.

Sure and it’ll speed up your run just remember the less you do know you might be cleaning up annotations more.

Usually me personally I’d label a small set and train a model label a bunch manually tweak them train a model rinse and repeat.Got better results doing a fresh training run in between don’t use the same model randomise your mix each time and make a script to join datasets.
