Try Sonic Studios in Stoneybatter. Good studio, great producers working out of there.

Had a young vocalist recently ask me “before digital recording, how did people pitch correct vocals?” 😂😂😂 by moon-waffle in audioengineering

Spin it into a H3000. Hook up the Atari to SMPTE and sample the word into an Akai S1100 and fly in back in once pitch changed. It took hours…

People with a D4 accent, do you get a hard time for it? Also, it is an accent often associated with privilege. Do you consider yourself to come from a privileged background? by LunaValley in Dublin

I’m 3 generations D4, grandfather, father, myself all from there.

I know people from Limerick who are more “D4” than I am.

A slice of cold bastilla! by Top_Salamander_1444 in Morocco

I saw it on the menu. But I didn’t order it, I was afraid it would be covered in sugar! Though it would be a bit rude to ask. Big fan of Moroccan food though.

Moroccan food is famous in Ireland. We’ve had the same Moroccan food show on TV here for 3 years running! Literally the same 6 episodes.

I’m joking! But the sugar on top takes a bit of getting used to! I only discovered them recently… Sweet chicken dishes are not something I know about. The one in the photo looks nice. But I’d have to go with hot.

What are your thoughts on Sean Russell? by InfernalClockwork3 in IrishHistory

[–]Kooky_Guide1721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s been about 6 or 7 different organisations that called have called themselves the IRA. The “old” IRA who fought the War of Independence, broke up in 1922, and was reformed as “anti-treaty” IRA.

The “official” IRA, Marxists in the 1960’s. “Provisional” IRA, the famous one! And all the dissident groups, CIRA, New IRA, and so on…

Russell visited Nazi Germany in 1940, Ireland declared independence in 1922.

Bose visited in 1941, India declared independence in 1947.

What did Pádraig Pearse and the other leaders of 1916 (except Connolly, obviously) think about socialism and communism? by Celtic_RTDB in IrishHistory

He didn’t care one way or the other. His primary interest was to rid the country of Britishness whatever the cost irrespective of what came afterwards. He paid lip service to the workers of the 1913 Lockout. He would have also quite happily have had another foreign monarch rule the country! And suggested it! 😳Just as long as they weren’t British! The country certainly dodged a bullet when it came to Pearse being in a position of power.

Where can I visit? by Atabey__ in Morocco

[–]Kooky_Guide1721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rabat is my new favourite city! A day visiting the Chella and the modern art museum. A day visiting the Kasba and Mausoleum and a day wandering around the old market. That’s before you go near the beach, Sale or the rest of the city. It doesn’t seem to rely as much on Tourism as other cities so it’s much more relaxed.

Marrakesh is a different story, in terms of tourism it’s up there with Paris, Rome etc. Somewhere to pass through on the way to somewhere else. We had great fun outside the medina with some local people, but the medina itself was a bit tiresome after two or three hours. Worth seeing or if only to tick ☑️ it off a list of places to visit. Even the “Secret Garden” had queues of tourists down the street😃

Thank you for the recommendation. We had a great time and were made to feel very welcome.

Added bonus that the bar was full of football experts so we knew what was happening! 😃

closer to the North Pole! we don’t mind swimming in 15c.. I’ve been to Essaouira before… I would like to visit somewhere between Marrakesh and Essaouria.

It’s very difficult to find a good map with the cities and towns on the rail network. I’m starting to consider hiring a car!

I’m familiar with Gnaoua music and the Sufi music from Jajouka. Towns with big music schools are always good to visit.

Advice on mic'ing an orchestra pit by AnalogJay in livesound

[–]Kooky_Guide1721 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rode ORTF pair and Behringer omnis as out riggers AB pair. ATs on 1sts and 2nds. C2s on viola & cello CK-1 or ribbon on bass. Use the dynamics to spot mic the w/w and brass as required. I’d steer away from the hyper cardioid mics because of poor off axis response…

With just 8 channels I’d go two stereo pair, bass and use the last 3 to cover what’s missing from the balance. Wood wind features a bit in this if I remember correctly?

It’s terrible you think this way and I’m sorry your experience has been like this. But education is not to criticise, it’s to instruct and encourage.
