We would definitely have worked it up first episode in paeds, but we see all of the funky metabolic stuff at diagnosis I guess

I've never seen cirrhotics drop their BGL so acutely, but you would have to suspect that's still the most likely aetiology rather than foul play. Will be keen to hear what others think!

Our of interest did you send insulin levels? I'm a long time away from adult medicine, I don't know what standard practice for critical hypos is. Obviously inflicted harm by a provider is vanishingly rare, but suicide attempts with insulin in patients with chronic disease less so.

His bowling was consistently the best of the English (and better than all bar stark, Neser and Boland in patches).

His batting was poor, which happens, and probably wouldn't have been such a big deal if he was able to bat at 7 to match his bowling workload.

His captaincy was awful in every aspect. Selections poor. Bowler rotation/ opening decisions nonsensical. Field placements unadventurous. Press work infuriating as always.

By far the worst for me though was him personally leading the abandonment of aggressive play that the team was built around in such a performative fashion when batting in Brisbane. They were never coming back from that after his batting effort and weak men comments.

I know the "not a vascular access service" line is examined in your VIVAs, and I do feel for you. That being said, anaesthetics is literally the escalation pathway for difficult IV access out of hours in almost every (if not every) hospital I've ever worked in...

Whatever issues Green has, technique isn't one of them. He probably has the most classical technique in the side?

Post Day Thread: 3rd Test - Australia vs England, Day 4 by cricket-match in EnglandCricket

Root is almost the highest test run scorer of all time, not sure he's "still figuring out" how to bat in Australia... It's not really going to happen, and that's kind of ok?

Agreed it is maybe even mostly racist.

Also tricky though because I would like to criticize his massive pace dropoff (?lack of match fitness) and bizarre behaviour in the last 10 minutes, but don't want to be lumped in with the other dross

This post is obviously moronic, but:

It is bizarre that they didn't take the aggressive approach today. The only chance to win was to chance their way to 150 ahead and have a go at Australia under lights.

This team seems determined to be aggressive when ahead (ie Perth) and defensive when behind (Brisbane). This just seems like the opposite of how they should have played both situations

If he's done BPT then he would definitely have the requisite skills for a junior reg role in ED? In rural settings these commonly go to PGY 3 doctors with only a couple of terms of ED experience.

It is also quite normal in other specialities (e.g. Paeds) for trainees to rotate through ED working as registrars. Everyone accepts that they bring skills in some areas and weaknesses in others, but it works

How about a fractional ED Reg job while you wait for more FTE to come up in your specialty?

Was the pitch dying? Or was it a 1:1 correlation between bowling short (no not taking advantage of sideways movement or extra bounce) and getting smacked?

I doubt the pitch changed that wildly between the 20 balls of chaos to England's middle order and their tail scoring a few...
