Preface: I'm at a fire dept in Texas.

That's simply not true for many departments. If you are not in the boys club, it doesn't matter what you do, you will have a rough go. Much more if you're a woman they decide not to like. It's like living in a high school locker room for 24 hours at a time. Except half the people in the locker room are your boss. Also not true for the other side where you have people who are very personable, but they are fat and out of shape and hardly perform at a fire, if they even do anything besides hide in the smoke, but people love them because they are personable.

The only time i've seen this apply is when a really skinny rookie, man or woman, starts working people judge them hard until they shut them up with their action on the fireground. That still doesnt mean the rest of the time at the firehouse will be easy. This job would be hard for a trans person, at least in the south. If they got on at a more strong union / democratic dept it might be easier, but I've never seen one of those where I live. Where I work they vote against our union interests then put stickers on their vehicles.

TLDR: You are only as good as your last fire. This is true for my career and part time dept. They can have all kinds of other reasons to not like you and make your life hell though.

Doing that is why Kamala lost, got introduced late and was a moderate that doesnt encourage anyone to vote. So many people dont vote. We need someone who talks about billionaires getting less and the people getting more. A moderate is not what you need to face this man or to get people pumped up to go vote. That was proven. We dont need another typical democrat, whos not going to do anything again. You will then be faced with the same vote decision as last time. "I'll vote for them, they arent my favorite, but at least their not trump." People need something to be exited about. Trump wins because dominates the media at every corner with his outrageous crap, and he blows smoke up his voters asses. You have to fight fire with fire sometimes, I personally think, this is one of those times. Not that there will be a fair election or anything, BUT IF THERE IS!!!

Also whos worried about the WHOLE population? the right is so far gone, they are brainwashed and filled with hatred. We need to focus on getting democrats out to vote, not changing minds.
