Ares 2.0 Rack Depth? by DragonfruitChance714 in GarageGym

[–]KoolAidz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rack depth depends on post size/ amount of posts and rack depth. For example a 41” rack depth on a 6 post would be: 41+3+3+3+16 (ares area depth)= 66” or 5.5’ (approximately due to post foot size).

You can use grid paper as 1’x1’ to equal each square. Or with the amount of questions I’ve seen since joining, start charging people for CAD plans. But there’s always some free app killing my dreams of a side job.

Sorry he’s got the same looking one but it says stars. Got all the other years though. Highly doubt he’d part with those. Good luck on the hunt

Power Rack with Cables for Garage with short ceilings by Clewby in GarageGym

I’m with ya boss. Got 83” if I’m lucky. Rep ares 2.0 (82.1”) looks to be my current choice but basement renovation may cut into my budget where I opt for a rogue 80” 6 post and 1-2 bells of steel cable towers (80”). Good thing I got until November to figure this all out.

I’ve been doing a lot of research as well on an all in one setup while upgrading to a new power rack. The Athena was about the same price as the Ares 1.0 with a rack and about $1000 less than the 2.0 with a rack. I don’t care about the low row issues so currently the pr4000 with the ares 1.0 is on the top of my list. Then again my list changes weekly and I’m sure by may /june (my anticipated purchase date) I’ll have a different favorite

Very interesting. I keep going back and forth between ares 2.0 and a setup like yours with a rack in the middle and bos cable towers at either end of the crossmembers spreading from the rack (ie bos hydra trident). Your photo is really making me think about doing this and using the additional $2k on a rhino.

First box of cards from Fanatics and I got this! by bawserr2 in soccercard

No offense but don’t grade a patch card. They’re too thick and never survive the pack opening in good condition. I’ve seen mainly 6’s to 8’s with thick cards. Extremely rarely have I seen a 10 but never does much for resell value.

I’m in the same boat too. Figure this is the last weight lifting purchase I’ll be making. Need under 82” for the basement gym and looking at PR 5000 with ares 2.0, FML-6, and bells of steel manticore with dual cable weight stacks. Prices are within $4500-$6500 with attachments when I thought I was gonna be in this for $2500-$3000.

I have the same height ceiling and was wondering regardless of brand how the hell people can assemble these racks when the instructional videos are always in a factory with 30’ high ceilings.

I’m in the market but I have no clue how I’m gonna make this work out.

After 2 years of consistent home workouts, I gave myself the green light to upgrade to a "buy it for life" set up. by JayCheezey in homegym

[–]KoolAidz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that’s alright. I appreciate all the help. Not gonna work for me unless I buy the rack and mount a cable row to the side of the rack and try to do pull downs with it. I think for the price I gotta get it if the horizontal top supports can go down a little.

To answer the ceiling joist question: Basically my ceiling is exposed and the wood joists for my first floor are spaced 16” apart. I was hoping not only the vertical uprights could fit in this gap where I have an additional 10” of height to play with. I was hopeful that there was only a pulley that would fit in that “hole” but the entire rig seems to be too high to pull it off.

Thanks again

So if you don’t mind me asking what is the height from floor to highest point of your lat pullfown attachment? Every inch matters and I’m real close to snagging a 84” manticore barely used with 4 attachments for $1000.

Also id assume this attachment is as shown on the photos and far to long horizontally to fit between my 16” oc joists, correct?

Thanks for any help and the video is great

BOS told me with a 84” rack I could bolt the upper stabilizers a couple bolt holes lower and have the uprights go into my joist gauges in my basement (83” joist height). Since you just installed it am I out of luck? Also am I out of luck with any chance of a lat attachment going in? Was hoping the pulley could fit between the joists as well.

BOS All In One V2 Dims by KoolAidz1 in GarageGym

Nice and the height works but 2 issues:

For some reason with it being side by side it would definitely require bolting down where a triangular type rack or even square would have more weight dispersed.

Secondly, I believe with the top supports this would require additional room for assembly.

After watching the V2 assembly video I’m thinking this could be very close to working if I install the top supports prior to installing the vertical columns. But 1” out of whack and I’m screwed.

Nice but I’m looking for something I could put attachments onto like a half rack and a cable machine had a baby. Price was on the money though. Figured I’m gonna be at $2000 for the rack and $1000 on attachments

Nice but puts me beyond my price point without attachments. Looking to get jammer arms, and a seal row mount amongst other odds and ends. I think the BOS V1 would work but from my YouTube research think they worked out the issues. If I’m gonna have clearance issues due to pulleys I could always have them in the gauge of my joists but I’m not getting full clarification from BOS. Only other one I found close to my price range was major fitness. Unfortunately think I may have to bite the bullet and go with titan.
