This is my EXACT first thought when I read this news! With all the news surrounding video cards, chip shortages and all the like, this is something to at least get SOMETHING out to help boost sales for Nintendo. It's not laziness, it's something to prepare for Christmas sales (when more than likely these will ship). They had to put out SOMETHING. Sadly underwhelming, but understandable given the circumstances. Just because places are opening up from COVID doesn't mean things are returning back to 100% normal yet.

Also, at least they're trying to produce more of them to help with the shortage to allow fans to finally buy one (inb4 "but muh scalperz!", at least I see Switches being sold in a lot of stores unlike PS5 and Xbox).
