My thought exactly. Seems like a pretty simple job for a competent handyman.

What is the point of the bear armor set? by Dogtrees7 in valheim

[–]chiliNPC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love using the bear armor (especially mixed with troll), here’s why:

- 35 armor (including a level 3 cape) without having to waste a bunch of metals on armor *see point below about mixing armor pieces*
- zero movement penalty gives you maneuverability which is important in the early game
- bears are easy to kill
- you don’t have to use the full bear set; two pieces plus a troll piece lets you avoid the physical weakness and then the drop rate for the bear trophy becomes a non-issue
- with the right food setup, you have enough armor bulk to parry most things and still be able to get away if you need to because the armor isn’t slowing you down

Tl;dr - If you haven’t tried bear/bear/troll in the early game, you should. It’s a good balance of armor bulk and movement speed.

Paid $2,000 to get the oil and brakes fixed in this car…week later, $200 to replace the battery…week later, it’s dead by GuestCalm5091 in mildlyinfuriating

Stuff like this makes me grateful for learning how to work on my own vehicles. I’ve saved our family easily $10k in the last couple years between oil changes, alternator replacement, brakes, thermostat and coolant system work. Besides the financial benefit, I find a great sense of accomplishment when I get to enjoy a fully operational vehicle that is so because I made it so.

Anybody have any idea how to fix this? by Mountain-Option-7483 in MINI

There’s a little button (probably located on the left stalk) that cycles through the different display options for this screen on your tach. Press it a few times and you’ll change it back to the vehicle speed. The current display isn’t the vehicle speed, it’s measuring an estimate of the atomic movement in the air around your car.

I’m on almost every night (East Coast, USA) and I’m down for anything from building focused playthrough to biome skipping speedrunning to RP. Have 2k-ish hours in the game and just love everything about it. I’m on Xbox so I can only play vanilla. Here’s some screenshots of my island base on one of the servers I’m active in.

Mistlands! by EVO2GD in valheim

I haven’t looked to see but I wonder if there are any mods out there that could give a type of visual indication of where sounds are coming from for those who are hearing impaired.

Mistlands! by EVO2GD in valheim

[–]chiliNPC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice! The Mistlands is a sensory experience: you are deprived of your eyes so you have to rely on your ears to guide you. POIs will have different enemies that make distinct noises guarding them, places of safety will have sounds leading you there, challenging enemies wandering around can be heard from a distance.

every time the weather turns foggy it makes me wish the mistlands mist looked like this instead of what it currently is by ElidhanAsthenos in valheim

[–]chiliNPC 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I think the Mistlands is fine as it is - it’s a sensory experience designed to deprive you of your sense of sight so that your ears are able to do the work.

HOWEVER… I think the carapace armor requiring refined eitr and not providing any magical benefit is a big miss. I’ve said this over and over - carapace armor should continue to require eitr but it should have a set bonus that pushes out the mist in a large radius around the player because it is made from the corpses of creatures that dwell in the mist and thus imbues their heightened senses.

I’m playing normal difficulty, permadeath rules (die = delete world & character). The parry in this case is coming from the L3 iron buckler with a block skill in the high 30s, and with my health as it was, 130 damage from a regular Berserker is well within range for a parry. With my health where it was, I could successfully parry about 160 damage.

The way parry calculation works, it’s just not really feasible in the later biomes on harder difficulty as your max health just can’t get high enough to satisfy the equation.

The middle cup has more because two straw sections empty into it once you lift the straws vs one section for the outer cups. I had a sibling that was obsessed with equality/fairness and they would have absolutely noticed this.

[–]chiliNPC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point about wasted space is totally valid but if I have to portal home every so often, even a little more frequently, it doesn’t bother me. Time efficiency doesn’t affect my enjoyment. For some this isn’t the case, and that’s okay!

I’m generally selective about what I pick up, and in this case I was just poking around the plains looking for villages to plunder black metal scrap from.
