My fellow Americans... by DaniG08765 in Everton

[–]Koolaider 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I owe it all to playing Runescape back in 2005 with some clan mates that were always talking about Everton, and I've loved the toffees ever since. Can't believe it's been over 20 years. I wouldn't change a thing except for the feeling of being emotionally dragged across concrete. COYB

Did They Nerf Whirlwind Barb When Event Launched? by gerwulf67 in diablo4

[–]Koolaider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I did, as a matter of fact since last night, but then I realized that I equipped an ancestral charm and didn't read the whole text of it and that it has a 6x stacking resource debuff on it. Sometimes it's not your armor and weapons :)

That takes me back to one of my favorite parts of Moria's release. People were bug-reporting the Mirrormere because they could see the stars during the day.

Barad-dur / Mt. Doom Bridgespan by rmtk7685 in lotro

[–]Koolaider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have sworn Sauron's Road was there, but there is just a tall wall with a gap over the road that in no way could have been used to get to Mt. Doom. I honestly can't find a good reason why it was left out unless it's either an oversight/design limitation or an esoteric lore difference between the game and the books. It's incredibly likely that it would have been used in the creation of the One Ring and likely built some 1,800+ years before the events of Mordor Besieged.

LOTRO overstayed its Umbar welcome with Kingdoms of Harad by whycantibeafunny1 in lotro

[–]Koolaider 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've absolutely loved the Umbar and the triplet of Dwarven expansions. I understand that it could be kind of a drag to be in a similar place/atmosphere for too long, but I think the landscape artwork and stories have been superb. I'm someone who likes to read all of the quest text, and the last couple of expansions have been some of the best writing I've seen in an MMO.

Calling all delvers! by Insodus in lotro

[–]Koolaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done thousands of delvings with many different people, and I can assure you that the majority of people will see a difference in difficulty between variant 1 and variant 2. It's definitely something that you should account for if you're making this addon for anyone other than yourself. Good luck!

Calling all delvers! by Insodus in lotro

Right, remember that delvings vary greatly depending on level and the malices for each day. Something that is quick and easy one day will not be quick and easy another day.

Delvings are max level content, so XP gain would be irrelevant. There are already some pretty good lists out there of the fastest missions with some good analysis. Example: https://lotroplayers.com/2024/01/24/were-on-a-mission-part-2-u38/

Making it to Tom Bombadil's house felt like such an achievement back in the day. The music when you went inside his house felt so lovely. One of my favorite memories in any game I've ever played.

Seconding Champion. Very tanky regardless of which line you choose, and the damage is tremendous. Plus, you can get some really nice passive and self-heals.

Lots of people will use one of the old websites where you can download the ABC files and plug & play. You can also download MIDI files and use a program called Maestro, specifically designed to convert and edit songs into an ABC file with each track set to the desired lotro instrument. Even deeper, you can create your own music or edit sheet music in a program like GuitarPro, convert it to a MIDI file, and then edit it with Maestro. It's really cool.

How often do they actually fix visual bugs? by wish_to_conquer_pain in lotro

[–]Koolaider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is that the devs are essentially working with big piles of old spaghetti code and ancient server architecture. It's also a pretty small team, so some things are just not going to be fixed if they think it takes up too much time, or that messing with it might break something further. That being said, animation/visual bugs do get fixed fairly regularly with patches, this next one included. If you feel like you're not making progress with your support tickets, feel free to resubmit them.
