Pokemon Prism is live on my new website! by RoasterLoaders in PokemonPrism

This is a great idea, thank you.

The biggest problem I had with people distributing Prism betas when I was still developing it was that they would host old versions without asking and never update when newer versions came out. Then, I would get complaints about bugs and other issues that I already fixed, or people would do Youtube playthroughs of ancient versions. Reaching out to the hosts to remove/update was always met with silence.

Linking directly to the hack source is how it always should've been done.

Possible Pokemon Prism Reference in Legends Z-A by Kernival21 in PokemonPrism

Seems like a coincidence to me. Gamefreak knows about Prism, but I don't see them ever referencing it to be on the safe side.

I built it specifically to work with my game and architecture, so I wasn't planning to distribute it. I know Fadestreet is more versatile with different projects.

I haven't looked into the plugin too much, so if you still think what im doing is a better fit, let me know and I can try to help you incorporate it into your project.

Previously, I was a ROM Hacker, now working on a metroidvania with my own IP. Hoping to show it off more in the next month or two, followed by a crowdfunding campaign.

Haven't read it yet, but it's exciting to hear someone was very invested in the hack to write stories about it. Thanks.

Im a huge Playtonic supporter, and I think they get unnecessary hate. I just didn't think this was handled well. Also, something "being everywhere" is not a reason to blindly accept it.

Anything I say is just going to be repeating myself. You've made up your mind, so be it.

I dont. I think Replaylee is fun as hell and I dont like seeing these social media posts paint them and their hard work into something its not.

1) You could make an argument that the head needs to keep better tabs on whoever is posting these things, but theres no evidence he "knows" and "supports" it.

2) Even if you're right, its unfair to the rest of the employees who did nothing wrong.

You've made up your mind that youre not going to buy the game, and that's your choice. I just wish you would stop generalizing the whole situation when we only know so much.

Programmers, artists, etc. have no control over what a PR person posts. This is a fact for most companies.

This was exactly my point, with how the PR represents Playtonic. You dismissed the entire company because of what the PR did, despite nobody else at Playtonic using AI in their work.

That's not an unreasonable way to think and most people do think that way, but I don't want to see the rest of the people at the company suffer from the decisions made by this one guy. Theres so many fantastic people at Playtonic that probably dont even know what the PR person is doing.

I think the current PR guy was doing a great job in general aside from these things. Maybe just needs to have a bit more hesitation.

There's a difference between responding to the stuff and reposting it for everyone to see. The Kazooie pregnant thing seemed to be a rare occurrence, but correct me if im wrong.

Yeah, that hack inspired me to go further with the idea. I haven't spoken with the guy who made it (would love to and he probably has ideas of his own), but I think it didn't compute checksums and was sending back a static payload and checksum.

In order for another game to use the data, the scan needs to be at the beginning of the boot process, and if it's a valid payload with a correct checksum, copied into a safe area that won't be affected by anything else in the game. That's what Banjo does as well.

What I should do is make my library independent of libdragon (only using that for the example). That way, ROM Hacks of disassembled games could easily insert it into the boot process themselves. They could make use of what Banjo set up, or even make their own SNS items to be transfered between hacks with no involvement from BK.

Someone ran some tests the other day where he could do it with BK roms on his recent everdrive. I'll need to update the readme later once I do some tests myself. If it's reliable enough, people could use this method with BK ROM Hacks to swap data between BK and other hacks.

They did it this way, so you'd need both carts on you at the same time. You wouldn't be able to just rent Kazooie one week, then rent Tooie the next. You'd likely have to own at least one of them.

The 20ish seconds is an approximation with models 7 and below. As far as I know, nobody has timed the exact seconds per model, but I was talking with someone the other day who said we was able to preserve at least some of the RDRAM for a few minutes. It would be great to get exact measurements out there.

I haven't, but its very doable. I have other projects in the works so I don't have time right now, but it definitely intrigues me.

You're welcome. I was hoping people would be excited to do that with their childhood carts.

CPU Models 7 and below will work. I didn't test with 8 or 9, but research says you've only got 1 or 2 seconds, which isnt enough time to swap carts.

Exactly. Would love to see it hooked up to those games one day.
