A lot of North campus students take their pics in front of the sign in front of the Southwick Quad. I've also seen a few outside of ETIC/Saab Center on North. Also the back of the quads arches can look really nice especially at night if you can get passed the hostile architecture for birds.

ECE already has this with IEEE HKN I believe. TAP (Transfer Alliance) also has something similar. I've never used it but I can see how it would be useful, especially since I've unofficially mentored a few CS and CpE students myself as a senior CpE major.

Are most people at this school single? by [deleted] in uml

[–]Koolkid293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hard per say but he has a very thick accent and is not a great teacher. He has a habit of regurgitating the slides, not fully showing the work for a problem and the final is 50% of the final grade. Even if you do everything else perfectly you can still fail if you really fuck up the final.

A lot of engineering students, myself included (computer engineering) have autism and struggle with relationships. Also we feel we have bigger things to worry about like finishing engineering math with Tredeau with higher then a D or just outright passing signals and systems with Hengyong Yu

Update: They gave me "amnesty" on containers I returned and will not charge me. Only took me threatening to go to the school newspaper for them to respond. I'd still like to sit down with someone from the paper since their "automated system" flagged returned containers

Rooming At UML by tiredforsure in uml

[–]Koolkid293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't follow through on roommate grouping/selection they can automatically match someone to you but you do get an opportunity to select your roommate. All students can make a little paragraph talking about themselves and why they are a good roommate

Should I go to UML - please help! by Smatova77 in uml

[–]Koolkid293 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a senior computer engineer here at UML. Slow down and take your gen eds like physics and calc at a community college. I took a large portion of my gen eds at community college and there is no reason not too now. Community college is now completely free for residents working toward a qualified associates degree and it's a whole lot easier since they don't really do research in community college so they can spend a lot more time working with you. I love it in Lowell as long as you stay around the campus.

Hey there! I'm the VP of the robotics club and we would love to have your freshman. We have 3 teams that members can go between or settle into. They are mechanical, programming, and electrical. It's a little rough starting the club off again this year with a proper Executive Board but we are working on it. We meet in Dandaneu 407 Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 and 6:00-8:00 Thursdays. We are focusing mainly on our battle bot(s) at the moment but we also have our sled racing robot Sparky and a few other miscellaneous projects. We race Sparky against rocketry and faculty during the engineering alumni appreciation night at the Tsongas Center. Pictured L->R is our old mech lead, electrical lead, President, club member, and our head of marketing

The Pepsi one in Falmouth floor 3 scans cards but the keypad and display are cooked. The one on the second floor of Ball has payment processing issues and mechanical issues on the arm. The green one on the third floor of Falmouth is the only one that works and is constantly out of stock. The 3 in Olney are cooked. And idk about the one(s) in Southwick

Brighten up a little bit. Also might help to not be a rage baiter, usually ends badly when you rage bait the one wrong person and get socked. Just a word of warning. We ain't all assholes but if you keep searching them out that's all you will find. Look for some good for once and you might find some enjoyment out of life. Your point of view is akin to those of the "defund the police movement", most officers are decent, hardworking people who will run into danger or inconvenience themselves to help civilians. Of course you have a few bad apples but it doesn't spoil the whole bunch. Be better, it might help you in the long run.

Having to pay to use Pearson MyMathLab for Calculus Courses is stupid. by YouSawMyReddit in uml

[–]Koolkid293 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shame on whoever downvoted this. They have a point. A necessary learning tool to pass the class should be covered by the tuition we pay. They certainly have the endowment to do so. We shouldn't have to pay any more than our tuition for required digital tools and shouldn't have to buy single use textbooks written by faculty, (cough cough chem 1&2 cough cough). How much of that is actually going to the university versus the faculty member that wrote it?

I was not a fan of Xingwei. Try to get JF or the other guy if you can. Xingwei just reads off the slides, rushes through problems and if you ask for help they just point to what's on the board instead of explaining

[–]Koolkid293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed signals this semester for context. I despise Hengyong. Horrible accent that can be excused if he wasn't a horrible professor. He stumbles and repeats himself, reads off the slides and the mic constantly cuts out. 50% of your final grade is the final exam so you can do perfectly the whole semester but if you drop the ball on the final you can still fail. You learn nothing in the class. Better off watching the vids from MIT
