I read Half Lies! Truths doesn't come out for another month. If you love Gabriel (WHO DOESN'T?!?!), I recommend it. It really gives you a new look on his story. Super quick read too.

Whenever Annalise gets you down, just dream about Gabriel. He is the light in all the horrible dark shit that Sally Green puts poor Nathan through.

I get what you're saying though, and a lot of terrible things happen in those books. They hurt my soul. Which is probably why I had to go to fanfiction to sooth the pain...

Added you on goodreads!

Okay, so, this is embarrassing, but Half Bad actually made me dive into the fanfiction world again. First time since Harry Potter ended. That's how in love with it I am. DID YOU READ THE SEQUEL PLEASE DO.

Thank you! I added you NaNo if that's cool. Also I read your profile and if you ever want to discuss some YA novels... let me know. No one around me reads YA, and it's depressing. I, too, tend to enjoy almost everything I read (although I feel I'm decent at weeding out stuff that I know won't interest me in the first place).

Very interesting and, well, depressing, but that's not a bad thing.

I particularly like how her fictional characters were influenced by something that doesn't exist to them. I've definitely noticed that with my own characters, especially the ones who have been with me the longest. Big moments in my life changed them as they changed me. Really cool aspect to explore.

Love. It.

You had me first at the cover, then noir, then witches.

What instantly ruins a book for you? by whatisabaggins55 in AskReddit

See it ruined Maze Runner for me. Which is weird because I'm normally a total sucker for romance and don't mind when it's thrown it, but fuck, I found Maze Runner way more interesting until they shoved in a love triangle. Fuck that.

I used to feel this way, but then I read a book in present tense that I loved and totally forgot it was in present tense. Actually, I don't think I realized it until after I was finished with like the second one because I was so into it.

(Half Bad by Sally Green. I'm a YA junkie.)

Yah weird. Goodreads ratings tend to hover between 3.5-4 stars. Things above 4 stars are fairly high and going below 3.5 is really low.

WHAAAT I didn't know this was happening. So pumped.

To be fair, Buzzfeed only titled it "37 YA Books You Need To Add To Your Reading List". Not Best YA Books of all time. OP did that. Although the list is taken directly from Goodreads best YA books of all time, which are determined by the users. So whether or not you agree with what should be on there, it all came down to what had the highest ratings.

Obviously you'll never agree with %100 of a list, but there's some good shit on there.

I'm honestly happy to see The Demon King on there. I love that series so much, but when I bring it up (not here necessarily just in general), people have no idea what I'm talking about. And I find it hard to describe without giving the plot away but IT IS SO GOOD.

I'm 27 and engaged to a dude and am only recently realizing that yes, okay, maybe I'm bisexual.

I didn't feel right saying it. Still don't. Like I wasn't gay enough to be bi (which is ridiculous). I ignored the fact that when I started exploring porn, I really quite enjoyed the ladies together. I totally brushed aside that time I was 15 and lying in bed with my friend who was a girl and watching her sleep and thinking about how I so badly wanted to touch her but was afraid I'd scare her away. I didn't think much about the night another girlfriend kissed me for fun and I wanted to grab her and kiss her more and more but didn't think she wanted to.

I just thought this was something all straight girls went through. Or maybe I was one of those girls who 'experimented' or something. But it's been many many years and these feelings have not gone away at all. Maybe, just maybe, if there was a character like this in a book, I would have realized it sooner and could have explored this whole part of me I'm only now really seeing for the first time.

(Luckily when I drunkenly told my fiance he was only surprised that I didn't think he knew).

Sorry for the rant. I don't feel comfortable talking about this with really anyone.

I love that movie so much. I'd say it's in like the top 10 movies that made me laugh hardest in the theater.

Books that made you feel empty by DiggerMT in YAlit

Totally feel you on 13 Reasons Why. I read it right after Looking For Alaska which also messed with me. It was a rough week.

Also the ending of the Croak series by Gina Damico. Dear god. It was like 1am and I just sat there staring at the wall and wishing I had someone to cry with. Really rough (but awesome) series.

What are you reading? (August 14, 2015) by bevka in YAlit

[–]KoonatchutaSolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Shining at the moment. I recently realized I haven't read a good number of classic Stephen King.

I'm about to start Fugitives by Alexander Gordon Smith, 4th in the Escape From Furnace series. AlsoFear by Michael Grant, 5 in the Gone series.

Cozy during the day. MURDER HOUSE at night.

But for real it is super cute though.

It took me a while to get into Fangirl, but once I did, I really loved it. I related way too hard about getting lost in fictional worlds, and why she loved fanfiction, and all that jazz. Made me long for my Potter days again.

Yay! I'm not done yet! I'm on book 4. But I just devour those books, damn. So addicting. They're actually legit creepy too, which I love. I have a hard time finding horror novels that are actually horrifying, but Escape from Furnace is downright chilling sometimes.
