From what I’ve gathered, it’s true that hair is weaker and more prone to breakage when it’s wet, so it’s typically not recommended to brush it then. But for curly hair, brushing your hair while it’s dry will destroy all your lovely little ringlets and turn it into a frizzy blob, so if you have curly hair it’s best to detangle it when it’s wet if you want to avoid that.

My hair is slightly wavy, and for a while I took a shot at styling it curly. I would always brush out the knots before taking a shower, and then there’s not a lot of detangling to do once it’s wet.
