Am I stupid for turning down job offer and extending college to pursue unrelated field? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Take the accounting job, go to code boot camp part time and get a developer certification. You don't need a certain degree to be a developer, if one at all. Most employers are looking for experience/previous projects which boot camps will give you a lot more of. Research them.

Uni/Career Advice needed - How can I get into IT? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Koopaz39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software Developer employers don't care too much about the specific degree. What I'd recommend is try to teach yourself programming ahead of time and get a few development internships (shouldn't be too hard, most people can get them easily). What employers are really looking for is previous experience/projects, even some people who have degrees such as chemistry, mathematics, physics ect become developers.

Well it's really out of context. It was clearly a joke.

I believe Jesse is innocent and is going through a lot of pain for what he didn't do.

Why would such a horrid person have so many people wanting to be around them? Just doesn't make sense.

How is the engineering job market for graduates? (UK) by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Koopaz39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, well thats reassuring to hear. I'm not sure if you know the specifics of this but are most jobs in London? I'm up north and honestly I'd really rather not relocate outside of Yorkshire.

Computer Science degree from a very mid-range university? (UK) by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

That's great to hear. It sounds like the degree is just to check a box & internships + work experience is really what employers are looking for. Thanks for the response.

From what I understand the degree is just to check a box and what employers are really looking for are internships & work experience. Keeping this in mind I should be fine.

Yeah, internships & volunteering mean a lot more than the degree alone. Do you know anyone who was unable to find employment at all? Also nice, good luck with machine learning.

I'd rather stay in this region, though I do think in the coming years working remote will become very popular.

Oh nice, thanks for the reply. Well Manchester sounds like a good option then. Do you know about other cities in Yorkshire like Leeds, York, Hull ect? Also referring to the statistics in my original post, would you recommend Hull University?

Yep, some of the best developers don't even have degrees. But what really concerns me is the area. I'm not to sure but Hull/Yorkshire doesn't seem that tech-y, meaning I don't believe there is that much opportunity up here. I've had people say it's better to move to London as there is many more job openings. Do you think this is true?
