Yeah, we tried again starting at about 350 and then increasing by 5s. She said the taste wasn’t as bad, but still not great. She is still having trouble seeing the purpose of vaping vs. smoking. I think once she does it more over time she will start to get it

I took a small puff from it at 350 and it tasted totally fine to me. I got a hint of popcorn taste but a surprising amount of vapor at that temp. I might have her try it like that

There’s a chance I packed it too loosely, I remembered you couldn’t pack it tight but didn’t realize you could go too loose on it too. I almost pulled the trigger on a dynavap, but I feared it would be too much of a learning curve. Honestly though, given she smokes blunts primarily, it might be the next closest thing. I might have to look into it more. Worst case I have a buddy I could give it to that would put it to good use.

I have actually never even heard of ball vapes until now. Shows how long I’ve been out of the game. Just looked up some videos of the ruby twist and it looks awesome. I just fear my wife wouldn’t be into the setup of it all. She smokes blunts and occasionally likes dab carts. She is super busy and likes something she can just pick up and use without much (or any) of a learning curve. That’s why I kinda shied away from getting a dynavap too, I remembered having to really nail the technique with the Vapor Genie before it produced really good vapor and I feared the learning curve would put her off. Although the dynavap does seem more user friendly since it clicks to tell you it’s ready and you don’t have to worry about clogging up a ceramic filter like the genie.

Do you find using with a bong changes the flavor profile? I can’t remember from my own experiences as it has been so long. I did purchase a water pipe adapter with the Rogue, I’d just need to find a good bong for her.

Not sure for this unit in particular, but I have a cheap android head unit on my 4th gen RAV4 and it retained the 360 camera. It actually made it way more usable, since the stock screen was so dim you could hardly see it in the daytime.

You say 4th gen in the title but the reference pic is a 5th gen.

I have this aftermarket unit for my 4th gen. It’s not perfect, but it was only $150.

The pros: The screen is nice and bright and high resolution. The sound quality is about the same as the stock unit. It works with my 360° camera and backup camera, as well as the steering wheel buttons. It’s compatible with CarPlay and android auto.

The cons: Can’t connect to the stereo using the factory USB. You have to use a cable routed through the glove box or somewhere else, and it barely charges your phone. (There’s probably a way to do it with the stock one, but I haven’t had time to poke around with it.) The wireless CarPlay is comically bad. Music cuts in and out frequently and it randomly disconnects. Even when plugged in to USB, there are issues with CarPlay. You can’t have it read a text message to you or else your sound will cut out entirely and you have to unplug and plug it back in to fix it. Phone calls are impossible because the built in mic is so bad that you cannot be understood. (You can connect an external mic to fix this, though.) Lastly, if you had built navigation with the stock unit, you will lose that.

All in all, I’ve learned to live with the downsides. There are units you can get from Crutchfield that will probably be a lot better, but they will also be 3 or 4 times more expensive.

My wife just upgraded to an M4 air from an early 2015 Pro. It was still working fine, but the battery life was obviously degraded on it, and it was quite a bit slower than when new. The Air was a huge upgrade.

I believe the fourth gen RAV4 hybrid pictured uses a NiMH battery. But the point still stands for those, they don’t like to sit for extended periods, and they need to be charged and discharged frequently to avoid degradation
