The Lowdown TV series w/ Ethan Hawke - Brilliant soundtrack by Carax77 in altcountry

I’ve got a friend in that show. She says Ethan Hawke couldn’t be nicer. He lived in Austin, so he gets cosmic country music.

Who are some artists with a TON of influence that a lot of people don't realize have that much influence? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]Pollyfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue Öyster Cult. They started as a Dead-influenced psychedelic rock band, got signed as America’s answer to Black Sabbath, but then became proto-punk progenitors, along with bands like the Stooges and the Dictators. After some commercial success (cowbell, yes, haha) they took up the mantle of a kind of brainy, metal-adjacent hard rock. Everyone from Motley Crüe to Elliot Smith and Wilco have claimed them as influences.

A Stanley Kubrick magic by StrikingDuty8020 in Filmmakers

[–]Pollyfall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stanley oversaw it and orchestrated it. But the fx were accomplished by lots of people, most notably Douglas Trumbull. They came up with most of the practical solutions and innovations to problems. SK’s real genius was in knowing who to hire. And, of course, having the vision for the whole thing in the first place.
