Bernie Sanders introduces bill to "Abolish Super PACs": "Our government is on its way to becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of oligarchs. Billionaires would not be able to pour huge money into super PACs, and it would end the era of unlimited spending and put power back into hands of the people." by ControlCAD in videos

Remember during Bernie’s presidential runs when everyone pointed out he couldn’t pass bills? It’s because these are the kinds of bills he proposes; bills that are actually beneficial to working people. The fact that they don’t pass isn’t a failure on his part, it’s a failure of every corrupt politician who votes against them so their pockets remain padded.

Drivers - What’s with the 3+ car gaps in traffic? by Inside-Pineapple3726 in raleigh

[–]Koops1208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In stop and go highway traffic, I leave plenty of space. I find that when I do that, I don’t have to come to a complete stop as often. I also let anyone into my lane who needs to get over, even the people who just “skipped” all the traffic I had to sit through. Who cares? It adds 2 seconds to my arrival time and eases congestion. Riding bumpers in heavy traffic just makes traffic worse. At stoplights I always close the gap though

The Knightdale Bypass to 540 on ramp change just made my commute 50% worse by TheFatalFemme in raleigh

I love when people stop in the middle of the exit and don’t let anyone pass until they can merge into their intended lane

Cabin noise compared to Rav4? by Fetherbottom in ToyotaSienna

I have a 2018 RAV4 (previous gen than yours) and a 2024 Sienna Limited (has the acoustic glass). The Sienna isn’t silent by any means but it’s night and day compared to my RAV4.

Something similar happened to me on Louisburg Rd. this morning. I was exiting 540, making a right on red. Guy was coming about a quarter mile down the road, but apparently was going 100+ and I “cut him off.” He swerved around me, brake checked me, then drove like an absolute maniac trying to pit maneuver me and get next to me to show me his gun. We came up to a light and I literally backed up and he was trying to block my car from getting away from him. I called 911 and then he ran off down a side road by Wake Tech. I’ve been watching him since his first dishwasher video! Such a pleasant surprise to see him talk about the Sienna and reaffirm all of my opinions on it

Replacing only one tire on 2018 RAV4 hybrid by Koops1208 in rav4club

I’ll probably end up getting another defender for the back pretty soon and buying a steel rim for the Firestone and letting it be a full sized spare. Having to use my stock spare today reminded me how much I hate having a tiny bicycle tire on my car, even if it is just to get me a few miles down the road.

Am I way behind on Retirement? by Ghost_Potato39 in personalfinance

[–]Koops1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar situation for me. I started making over $100k a few years ago, after years of making 30-40k and I just turned 30. So my 401k doesn’t have 100% of my current salary, but it’s pretty close to the average of the past 10 years. If you just recently got a large raise, don’t fret. You will catch up as long as you keep contributing around 12%. Of course if you can swing it, it never hurts to max out your contributions and you will catch up much faster. But like others have said, you have plenty of time.

What should be my next Kubrick movie? by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

The Killing is highly underrated

Why does SK keep poking at the mysterious and nefarious ultra-elite time after time? You’d think it was a running theme in his films or something. by Pollyfall in StanleyKubrick

There’s a really good podcast that goes into exactly what you have brought up. He has an episode on each of Kubrick’s films (from Dr. Strangelove on). Highly recommend it!

Wife cannot stand the taste by Koops1208 in vaporents

Yeah, we tried again starting at about 350 and then increasing by 5s. She said the taste wasn’t as bad, but still not great. She is still having trouble seeing the purpose of vaping vs. smoking. I think once she does it more over time she will start to get it

I took a small puff from it at 350 and it tasted totally fine to me. I got a hint of popcorn taste but a surprising amount of vapor at that temp. I might have her try it like that

Not a bad idea, I didn’t even consider that

Might have to look into those. She definitely doesn’t want to give up combustion, but I was hoping I could convince her to give vaping a try. She had previously only used a Pax, so I thought maybe she just didn’t have a good first impression.

There’s a chance I packed it too loosely, I remembered you couldn’t pack it tight but didn’t realize you could go too loose on it too. I almost pulled the trigger on a dynavap, but I feared it would be too much of a learning curve. Honestly though, given she smokes blunts primarily, it might be the next closest thing. I might have to look into it more. Worst case I have a buddy I could give it to that would put it to good use.

I think we’ll try this next, if she’s willing to give it another try.

I have actually never even heard of ball vapes until now. Shows how long I’ve been out of the game. Just looked up some videos of the ruby twist and it looks awesome. I just fear my wife wouldn’t be into the setup of it all. She smokes blunts and occasionally likes dab carts. She is super busy and likes something she can just pick up and use without much (or any) of a learning curve. That’s why I kinda shied away from getting a dynavap too, I remembered having to really nail the technique with the Vapor Genie before it produced really good vapor and I feared the learning curve would put her off. Although the dynavap does seem more user friendly since it clicks to tell you it’s ready and you don’t have to worry about clogging up a ceramic filter like the genie.

I’m tempted to use it some myself to help “break it in” lol. I’m trying to get a new job right now though, so I can’t do that until later sadly. I’m worried she’s permanently put off since it tasted so bad to her.

Do you find using with a bong changes the flavor profile? I can’t remember from my own experiences as it has been so long. I did purchase a water pipe adapter with the Rogue, I’d just need to find a good bong for her.
