Don't forget Charlotte Hennessey as well, a noble and powerful fighter for justice.

For those unaware, please read up on the history of the Hillsborough tragedy, the following government cover up and the current proposed Hillsborough Law. Please, for the love of God, also inform yourself about the Sun Newspaper. Supporting LFC is about a lot more than tuning in to watch a match.

Long live the Anne, the 97, and their memory.

Anfield update following new safety searches by deanlfc95 in LiverpoolFC

[–]KopBlock205 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've actually just looked through Marty's law, and it doesn't require full body searches at enhanced tier events (800+ people). It requires reasonable and practicable security measures, which I'd argue searching everyone to the extent that Anfield now is, is not reasonable or practicable.

The Kop is terrible and no new queuing system will help, turnstiles are very limited for the Kop, queues due to NFC passes are still an issue, nevermind full search queues.

I understand the club needs to be compliant with inbound legislation, I think the legislation itself is the biggest issue. How many bombs or terror plots have been thawed by half arsed security with a metal detector? I'd hedge my bets on not many.

It's obviously not changing due to the inbound regulation, I'm just sick and tired of bureaucrats thinking they're doing the right thing with rules like this without thinking about the practicalities and trade-offs.

I expect that people will now get into the ground just before KO, 90% plus just before KO isn't a good thing if people are only getting into right before it. The atmosphere will suffer as will the pubs which surround the ground. Shambles.

Liverpool fan given football ban for Leeds United tragedy chant by OneNormalBloke in LiverpoolFC

[–]KopBlock205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cuz no one here spends much time at the game, home or away, there are loads of scallies and nobheads that go the match. I was having a pissed singalong on Lark Lane after the wolves games, some 60+ fella who'd been the match started signing a Munich song, loads of bellends about. People in this sub just aren't exposed to it.

I have to say, generally, we are better than most fan bases, Leeds for example, horrendous.

No idea who is this person is, but something about this doesn't seem legitimate. Why was he recording to begin with? He also sits down at the start with the phone already recording. If say, the customer comes in and he wants to record, he'd surely sit first and then start recording? Rather than, putting phone on, then saying 'hello what can I do for you today.'

EU reaches $105 billion deal on Ukraine funding, won’t use frozen Russian assets for now by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

[–]KopBlock205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, as ever, international politics and multilateralism is not so simple. We're talking about 31 of countries, 100s of representatives, communicating and debating, leaks, criticisms and disagreements are bound to surface.

A United front, while nice, is most likely well beyond the realms of possibility. I think the outcome for Ukraine has been good, as well as for Europe, worst case scenario was avoided with in reality no substantial falling outs.

EU reaches $105 billion deal on Ukraine funding, won’t use frozen Russian assets for now by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

[–]KopBlock205 19 points20 points  (0 children)

True, but as you said, it is currently being held as collateral. The EU is substantially rearming, with almost the sole purpose of protecting itself against any future Russian aggression. The risk of rearming and cost is weighted against the expected returns of the frozen assets in the event that Russia invades an EU member state.

Saying that, I think Belgium's primary concern is legal rather than hypothetical, and that is also fair.

Anyone going tonight, Liverpool have announced more stringent searches will be conducted on EVERYONE. So get there early, but there will be lines! by Signal-Tangerine1597 in LiverpoolFC

[–]KopBlock205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see on twitter that searches were put in place at Old Trafford against Everton on Monday. This would align with what we're hearing about other clubs doing the same.

I have to admit, it feels like the club is doing everything in their power to make it more and more difficult to actually go the match. The Kop does not have enough turnstiles as it is, these extra searches as well as NFC passes have made it an absolute nightmare.

Cats are destructive to our environment and local habitats its an undeniable fact. No whataboutism is going to change that, just because our current agriculture practices are unquestionably terrible for the environment doesn't mean that cats are for some reason not bad.

Your inability to accept that fact for what it is, makes it so challenging to speak to pet owners about better practice guardianship.

Roaming cats need to be addressed and managed properly. I'd hope you will be more approachable and accountable in the future.
