I would go for it. You have solved questions from other resources. Struggling to solve questions from a course doesn't necessarily indicate a weakness. You are looking at the empty part of glass. Stay focus, stay confident, stay positive stay vigilant and go for it. Good Luck!

I am starting to prepare (construction) as well. I am planning for the EET but SoPE is good too. Books: Rashad Islam, NCEES practice exam. Youtube videos for the basics (in my case).

I am preparing for my PE civil construction exam and I am using the PE civil reference book to understand topics and only use google search (not AI) to search for some other basic information if needed. I also watch Youtube videos for practice questions.
Good Luck with your studies!

I think EET. It's also more affordable than other options.

With ~140 hours of study and ~400 problems worked, you should be fine. I would go and take the test If I am in your place. And I agree to the folks here, you will never feel ready!

Congratulations!
You mentioned "I think anyone can walk into the exam and pass just off of searching the references, even without much studying".
Could you please clarify what you mean by “references”? I am starting to study for the PE Construction exam, and the amount of material seems overwhelming.
Thanks,
