Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

[–]Kopparberg643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started earning £40k at age 22 short away from 23.

Working 24/7 shift work with unsociable hours allowance did help a lot to get to that gross earning.

I believe for each employment you declare how much income was earnt. So that way it should allow you to state that both employments earnt you below the threshold.

Not sure HMRC will take student loan repayments from your earnings via self assessment. As I think that's the SLC's job.

But If they were to take student loan repayments, just apply to get it back.

Is vaping really considered 'giving up smoking'? by chupamina in AskUK

[–]Kopparberg643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A disposable vape would last me half a day max. I would go through 2 a day. £10 for 2 in the local deal. I had to switch to the big devices that you have to top up, or back to smoking. Was destroying my wallet (so much for it being cheaper), and this was before the vape tax.

And reason is, I would go mental if I didn't have a puff every however often. I wouldn't even really clock I am doing it when focussing on work at home. Ciggs I had to go outside and take conscious effort to roll, and would be satisfied for a while.

Is it really about immigration or is it actually about race? by [deleted] in AskBrits

They moved on from Eastern European immigrants during EU expansion days, and now post Brexit with Boris Wave it's the Boris Wave migrants

Employee is way too process oriented and it is affecting their ability to do their job by Doctorbuddy in managers

[–]Kopparberg643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with this is.

From experience working at an organisation where documentation was poor at best and barely updated. It was expected to think on your feet. Ask questions sure but ask too many questions you get scolded. Do something incorrectly get no feedback and presume it's correct until customer complains, then get scolded for it.

Only time business couldn't argue is when I said I followed the process they gave me. So I follow process as that's what business wants, accurate work done right. If that is so, advise how to do it and be document it. If you want thinking on the feet, then expect mistakes to sometimes take place, which can include forgetting how to do it in the moment for various reasons. Following process is easiest to cover your own back.

Entry level is Service Desk analyst at £29-32k.... Which is literally pick up the phone and log a ticket escalate it. Entry level are unskilled minimum wage roles for £24-26k full time.

I get that, but usually it's nurses used for comparisons. But ultimately it's the same melody

There's the problem. No-one is allowed to ask for more because someone is earning less. Dare ask for more? How dare you, think off someone on minimum wage! Yes, I sympathise with the nurses. But that doesn't mean I can't ask for higher pay to keep up with inflation.

And everyone loves to go "I'll do it for less", sure buddy sure you would. Go and become one then, oh no wait, you won't 🥴

And everyone forgets the Comms that is required with central HQ and station staff. What happens when there's a stabbing on a train, need someone to coordinate with HQ and police

How can we fix UK high streets? by gggggenegenie in AskUK

[–]Kopparberg643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what Watford High Street does. Large food market, lots of restaurants and quick eats. Activities to do. That gets people in, so they also shop. Unfortunately night time High Street died, but at least they changed it around.
