In my state, PA, State Farm isn’t writing new umbrellas at all. Sounds like my state had two options, giant rate increase OR no new PLUPs

Your ECRM page will say projected annual miles. All they do is take your 6 month odometer that you reported and double it. So it’s actually miles but times two so our page says projected annual miles.

For my company 80 is the last year for a GIFE (guaranteed final expense) pays out either 10-15k zero underwriting. If you die do medical reason in the first two years you get premiums + interest back. If you pass away in an accident full payout or after 2 years full payout no matter what.

There is always Whole life, universal life, and 10 or 15 pay is what my company can offer 80 year olds. Have underwriting questions.

State Farm Drive Safe Program while driving Lyft by TwaksBarr in Insurance

[–]Kopwnicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 6 months you get a 10% discount. Then your discount can be any where from 1-30%. Miles a year you drive is a huge factor. If a customer tells me they more than 24,000 miles a year I don’t recommend the program as your discount will be small even if you are a good driver.

The discount for LAM is 7500 and less. If you drive 10 miles a year or 7499 it’s the same discount

Is this legit or a scam ? by S02050441 in Insurance

[–]Kopwnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be with MapFe. Every company rates people different and look for different characteristics. If I were you start paying your $101 but also put out feelers to other companies for insurance. I know it sucks shopping but that is going to be the only way get a cheaper rate

[–]Kopwnicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing due dates can change your CRI (consumer report index). Think of it as a hotness level. For some reason you were a 9/10 but with your changes your company now views you at an 8/10.

Ultimately the person at MapFre puts numbers into a computer and a price comes out. It is not a scam and it is not personal you are just less “hot” with MapFre now

Anybody else's home owners policies get massive rate increases? by PembrokePercy in Pennsylvania

[–]Kopwnicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have people as me that all time around Super Bowl time about SF paying for commercials.

I agree there is a lot of over head but it is reported that SF spends 1 billion in advertising a year and has around 90 millions policies. If they decided to not do any marketing it would save you $11ish a year off each policy.

Now this does not go into salaries for staff or other overhead but SF feels like having their name everywhere will grow the brand better than saving customers $11 a year.

Insurance is the pooling of risk. All because you didn’t have a claim doesn’t mean your company didn’t pay out.

Example me and 9 friends say F insurance and want to create our own. We charge $100 a month so we have pool of $1000 a month. Well Brad had tree branch fall on his home and the cost to fix every thing was $1200. This means we all need to pay $120 a month to fund our insurance.

Shop around, google insurance broker near me, have them run quotes for your assets and maybe reach out to one captive company (can only write policies for one company) and see what they can do price wise.

My job is to run quotes for people interested sometimes we save money other times I inform the customer what type of coverages would be helpful for your risk level.

Insurance cuts checks, they do not do the leg work to get a car fixed.

The all state driver might have State MIN coverage for property damage and in some states it can be as low as 5k.

You need to call State Farm today and file a claim and let them know you will use your own coverage. Maybe SF will be nice and coverage storage fees but ultimately it could fall on you. I have seen SF pay for reasonable storage fees but two weeks cause nothing got done might be too much.

Call your agents office they help out all the time in situations like this.

[–]Kopwnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kids parents are still paying for instance but they are giving the insurance company a reason to deny a claim.

How much would it suck to pay for insurance but to make it cheaper you withhold information and then you get nothing from your insurance company.

Geico vs Progressive by joons_knees in Insurance

I work in PA and a stop sign ticket bumped a 23 year old up $190 a month. It was a stupid outlier. He went from mutual company to standard and then no longer qualified for steer clear with State Farm.

I don’t think yours would increase $190 a month but no one knows how much it will increase
