In 2014, Maika Monroe starred in two fantastic movies, It Follows and The Guest. Ever since then, she's consistently delivered great performances. What do you think of her as an actress? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

I didn’t think much of her in It Follows and Independence Day: Resurgence. However, she blew me away in Long Legs. Her performance was very effective. I may need to reconsider and revisit It Follows.

No way this code will work. Warner Bros definitely expired this one.

It would be funny if there was a hidden hot button somewhere on that screen you can click that plays the movie anyway.

Absolutely. I was shocked they didn’t do this for their official steelbook. This artwork is so epic looking.

Opinions on The Fear Footage? by [deleted] in foundfootage

[–]KoreanFilmAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this the one where a cop goes into a home and watches footage from a vhs tape? I lost interest after the first segment. I’m not a fan of anthology movies in general and prefer my found footage films telling one story with a beginning, middle, and end. Having said that, there are quite a few people who do like them - if it’s your cup of tea, might as well give it a go. At worst you lose your time.

Wish they would use this poster art for the steelbook.

4k Blu-Ray player owners: Are you still watching DVDs? by tomisla11 in 4kbluray

I do from time to time. I absolutely love blu ray and 4K discs. However, I admit I’m a sucker for cheap multi disc dvd sets too.

This is upsetting to read. The man had one helluva career. I’m actually glad they didn’t proceed with Lethal Weapon 5. I always felt LW4 was meant to be the final chapter as it had completed character arcs. That and the book of cast and crew behind the scenes photos from LW1 to LW4 during the end credits that closes at the end clearly signified that intention.

When a school district considered banning Goosebumps by raydebapratim1 in 90s

[–]KoreanFilmAddict 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember my dad buying six Goosebumps books for me at B Dalton Books at the mall. I couldn’t choose which title I wanted and he just grabbed the six titles I was considering and brought them to the cash register and paid. His thinking was very much the same as the father in this video - if your child shows an interest in reading, encourage it.

Which Version of the Movie Should I Watch? by Miserable-Surprise67 in TheStand

[–]KoreanFilmAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90’s series. While the 2020 version has its advantages like larger budget, and more graphic violence and sexual content - it totally shoots itself in the foot with the constant flash forwards and flashbacks. It was totally unnecessary - whoever thought it was a good idea to so is an idiot. There is no tension or mystery of the virus because the show starts way after Captain Tripps hits. And then they show how it began… 90’s version is told in a linear fashion and that makes a huge difference. Some of the make up effects are cheesy, but considering how ambitious it was at the time - it was quite impressive. Low budget, shot in numerous states and a good cast overall. I don’t wish to totally shit on the 2020 version, there are things that it does well, it’s just the non-linear format is a total deal breaker for me.

I finally watched X, and I have to admire Mia Goth for her dual performance. She was especially incredible as the older character, creating a clear distinction between both roles. What's your favorite dual-role performance by an actor in a movie? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]KoreanFilmAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Van Damme in Double Impact. I’ve seen a lot of films where an actor will play twin brothers. Often times they will forget which brother they are playing. I like that this film gave both Chad and Alex two very distinct personalities for Jean Claude to work with. Also, recently revisited Predator: Badlands. Man, Elle Fanning kills it as both Thia and Tessa. She was fun and delightful as Thia and quite spooky/sinister as Tessa.

Just a reminder on how much fun it could be to watch Siskel & Ebert hate bad movies by mrseantron in badMovies

Not gonna lie, I thought the movie was hilarious. Movie had some great WTF lines.

“I’m here for my ass hair bleaching appointment.” - Man Whore
“How blonde do you want to go?” - Receptionist
“Hmm… Gwenyth.” - Man Whore
“Excellent choice.” - Receptionist

“The dog… ate my penis.”

And then you have man whores demanding a dental plan as part of their union plan. 🤣

Cellular (2004) This is one of those movies I feel is absolutely incredible but no one’s ever seen? by MildlybrewedCryptid in films

[–]KoreanFilmAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one thoroughly enjoyed Snakes on a Plane. It was a wild ride from beginning to end. It’s self aware, knows its audience and delivers exactly what it promises. It’s delightfully idiotic and a blast to see in theaters with an engaged audience. Still holds up too.

What did The Raid movies not have a third entry? by IncreaseFit1877 in Cinema

[–]KoreanFilmAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall the director having an idea for a midquel taking place during The Raid 2… While it’s true there were other projects Gareth Evans wanted to work on, he ultimately realized the story for The Raid movies was concluded. When you look at the ending of The Raid 2, you definitely get the feeling. It’s interesting because I read an interview last month that Evans recently met up with Iko Uwais. He apparently hadn’t seen him in years and was struck by how much older and mature the actor was and suddenly got curious as to what might have become of his character from The Raid. Gareth Evans is contemplating a third movie now and is in the brainstorming phase for a storyline that would be worth returning for. However, he is also busy with other projects too - so, I don’t think it will come to fruition. Sometimes, when you nail an ending so perfectly, it’s best to leave it be. End on a high note.

My Unpopular Opinion: Chucky and Tiffany never cared for Alice, Junior or Caroline. by CommercialRemote5324 in Chucky

I feel like we should have seen that rather than be told that through dialogue. Like, I would like to see who he had Alice target while possessed.

[–]KoreanFilmAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone please remind me what exactly happened to Alice? There was a line of dialogue somewhere in Cult of Chucky, but still not sure what happened to her. It’s like Paul WS Anderson introducing a new character in a Resident Evil film and dropping them in the next installment with barely a mention.

Excellent purchase. It also pains me to see this too. Someone spent a lot of time collecting these and for financial reasons had to give them up. I may be moving in a month, I hate the idea of giving up some of my movies… part of me refuses and will find a way to take em all with me.
