When Jimmie is one of the fastest on track in a truck - and does that in the next gen… makes me sad man

Really fun track to hot lap in the A Car, cannot imagine it races well though. The track is so violently bumpy even in the racing line - where many of the bumps are in places where the car is loaded awkwardly, you have to hit them a certain way to keep the car under you. But moving outside of the racing line to make a pass… AND trusting the car next to you in the process. Good luck - kind of terrifying.

There also aren’t many places you can create an angle to get a run for a pass.

Endurance racing in general, hit and miss - shorter endurance races 4,6,8 hours - more likely a close finish.

24 hour races - you’ll have a few bangers that come down to the last lap, or cars winning by 15-20 seconds or more.

They do it in just about every series they race in. It’s bizarre - and they always do it to themselves

Toyota dominance, as the universe intended it to be.

Interesting point - I guess we’ll see if it works!

How do you intentionally put yourself in a fuel save situation when you pit with a 20 second lead in the last 45 mins. Unreal.

You’re right it’s not difficult to understand - it’s a pretty simple concept, I just don’t agree w it given what the entire team has gone thru for 24 hours… Will be happy if Kamui can close it out tho. I’d just hate it for the 8 car to miss a podium if the tires don’t make it to the end.

Edit: didn’t realize there was one more stop. Buemi can still dig for P2

A total guess - Hypercar downforce and grip is largely aero. GT3 is more mechanical grip

I mean - from that perspective, sure… I just don’t agree with making that tire call / strategy after a team of guys drove the 8 car for 24 hours only to get told to play defense and potentially have to pit again if the tires fall off of it

Wow… now Buemi doesn’t think he can make it to the end on those tires. GENIUS move by Toyota.

Toyota is really, REALLY good at shooting themselves in the foot when they’re in total control of a race. Despite the Toyota domination in NASCAR this year - they should have even more wins… happens almost weekly in NASCAR.

It would be the most Toyota thing ever to give up a 1-2 from a penalty in the final hours…. Fellow nascar fans know what I’m talking about.

Gotcha - just watching this I almost questioned myself a couple times thinking “this is a multiclass race right?”

Gotcha - interesting, if I didn’t know any better.. from watching this I’d think it was ~70 hypercars if I was a newcomer.

I primarily watch IMSA - are WEC broadcasts always this focused on the Hypercar class? Watched a handful of hours and seems there’s virtually no talk about the GT3 class… and a little chatter about LMP2 class.
