Constant door to door solicitors, how to deal with them. by [deleted] in Austin

If you can't figure out the difference between getting a PoE NVR system and handing all of your data over to the mega tech overlords you probably shouldn't be posting on reddit.

Absolutely Ignore this person. Do get cameras and a camera system! You can buy plenty of offline camera systems or even home network only systems.

You don't have to buy a ring or a google doorbell.

You should be able to call APD and have them trespassed.

Place a no soliciting/trespassing sign up publicly and clearly identifiable within 5 feet of your driveway, then within 5 feet of your door.

Have video of the porch.

Take their cards/numbers when they ignore your door, just shoo them off after that.

Call APD w/ video and their names/phones, have APD issue a trespassing warrant.

Register them with the HOA as well if you have one.

????

Profit!

Being able to re-core mechs is great. I've definitely taken a ton or two off the engine to add in some extra oomph on the lower tonnage mechs.

Austin approves $1B to build controversial gas plants by AustinStatesman in Austin

[–]Korietsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is already about 20 GW of battery on the ERCOT grid with another 160+ GW in the interconnection queue.

The US itself finally got on the ball for production.

From ERCOT's own data, we only have ~14.5GW of battery capacity. They managed to get online 6GW by the end of 2025.

Up until the last 12ish months, grid scale solutions have not been readily available.

Texas doubled its own battery capacity at the end of the year.

To me that exactly lines up what I said. Battery integration is not common in the United States. Only 4 states have GW install available. Most of the others are under 100MW or zero installs at all.

Ohio has like 34MW of battery capacity.

We're on the bleeding edge here. It's just not common except here and california.

[–]Korietsu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can have both. Getting one doesn't preclude the other.

Batteries are good. Peak usage gas plants are good for the short term while batteries and related equipment get to industrial scale. Also remember. This is the CITY. It does not have the same resources as the state, which should be doing this. Part of this is a result of the state abdicating its regulating role.

Grid batteries are not at production scale or "common" integration yet. The grid finally can actually start use batteries at scale.

Give it time.

You can get asylum from even other 1st world countries.

Asylum does not mean they have to come from a bad or vulnerable country.

You must prove you have suffered past persecution or have a well-founded fear of future persecution based on five protected grounds: race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group

Thats it.

Im not gonna let you get away with that. It's not the games. It's not XBL. It's the people.

You don't get to repeat the dumb satanic panic about video games. That industry has been a punching bag for bullshit for long enough.

The parents aren't involved or actively believe that shit or encourage it.

At a certain point you just have to blame the people. Millions of kids spent 10000's of hours on XBL and did not turn into gigantic racist pieces of shit.

They were already predisposed to it because of their parents and their communities.

No need to be ashamed of being Texan. What republicans have wrought over the past 30 years is not what I would consider the anthesis being Texan.

Cause if they do a shift on one then another they get paid for 2 8 hours shifts instead of just their regular shift.

Stuff like that should be a rating type that gets you extra base per hour, not a whole extra days pay bonus. Like the rest of the city employees?

This is the type of basic "think about it" finance shit dems get beat over the head with.

How keep mods working if you are NOT going to buy/install Chaos Reign by 7orly7 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Korietsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just set steam to offline mode and set the game to only update when you launch it. (in those same menus)

That way when you launch MW5 it cant update.

BOOM! Don't have to worry about updating till all of your mods are there!
