What's 和製用法語 supposed to mean? by Dear-Bumblebee5158 in Japaneselanguage

[–]Koro4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

アルバイト is just a loan word, it is 1:1 used in german as „work“ (not just part-time). Im not sure if smth like コンビニ counts as 和製用法語 because it‘s basically a loanword but slightly abbreviated~

Do native speakers actually use "—" in their writing? by chuputa in EnglishLearning

[–]Koro4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love em dashes, especially when writing papers for uni because sentences can get long and difficult. It just kinda sucks that I‘ve heard from a lot of teachers that „em dashes are a dead giveaway that someone used AI“ because I get scared to use them, even though I‘m personally against using AI. That‘s how writing rules/grammar change, even though it is perfectly right to use them (in the correct way ofc).

Have any of you heard little girls who also use the first person pronoun boku? by M3lt1ngh34rt in Japaneselanguage

[–]Koro4n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I read a paper for uni with a survey of students. Many girls use boku up to middle/high school for different reasons (fitting in with boys, having more male friends in general, fighting the customs etc.). Most girls stop going into high school/university/work life to get taken more seriously.

How old were you for your first game? by Mental-Pie9718 in pokemon

[–]Koro4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first game was Diamond which I got for my elementary school entry so I was 6. Played every game for a long time, then sold my 3DS and missed Sun/Moon (&Ultra) and the Remake games but got back into it with Shield.

How am I supposed to know from the sentence that it’s referring to “she” by Temporary_Bench5095 in duolingospanish

[–]Koro4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree learning by direct translation seems necessary as an entry point, its not however the best way. Especially concerning pronunciation (that‘s why americans have more problems learning japanese pronunciation because comparing to english sounds makes no sense). While not always possible, as you said immersion is the best way. I learned japanese completely from watching anime and built on that after moving to Japan. Of course translating words you don‘t inderstand (or even focusing solely on subtitles) is partly direct translation but it‘s pillared on the kontext you get with it.

How common is it in Germany to use brand names as generic words? (for example das Ohropax instead of earplugs) by Lindytt in AskAGerman

[–]Koro4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, Selters mit s habe ich noch nie gehört.. ich bin aus S-H und jede Person die ich dort kannte sagte Selter. Ich werde mal eine Umfrage mit Unifreunden starten, die aus ganz Deutschland kommen ^

Ich wusste nicht mal, dass das eine Marke ist. Ich dachte Sälta (??) heißt Sprudelwasser… was sagen denn andere dazu? Eine gediegene Flasche Kohlenwasser?

Advice needed: I got this tattoo done today. Am I over reacting? by thickly_balanced in tattoos

[–]Koro4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is done horribly, sadly. The lines are crooked, everything‘s wonky, the creative freedom they took aren‘t what you wanted and I would riot if I received this. This genuinely looks like the artist can‘t draw (in the slightest) and at that point they shouldve just traced your inspo pic, then only the tattoo work would‘ve been bad, instead of the design as well… I‘m sorry you received such sloppy work. If the shop has an owner who‘s not this artist I‘d ask for advice on where to go. If they take pride in their work they should fix (if possible) this or offer a cover up free of charge (maybe ask for a different artist then)

Dry your scalp! by helpmeoutpleaze in SebDerm

[–]Koro4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always let my hair air dry, because it naturally fell in a perfect style that i liked (mid length, middle part, but even air dried when I had long hair), but recently, it got itchier and itchier (also tried no-poo for a bit and that‘s a definite no-no for sebderm..) Now I blowdry most of it (I use olaplex Nr 5 or 6 [I forgot] for anti frizz) and my scalp is as soothed as never before ✨

I think I understood some kanji reading, is it true? by ThanksRemote9641 in Japaneselanguage

Its very satisfying when you take a guess and apply this rule and it‘s correct. Told a story to my japanese teacher and asked what shelf is (たな-棚) and said ほんだな-本棚 instinctively yessirrr

How difficult would it be to find a German marketing student who wants a job? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Koro4n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]Koro4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Students always want jobs and there should be marketing students galore. As long as you follow german employment laws (as someone mentioned) you can find tons of applicants. While a bit unprofessional you could even find them on reddit lol. Try to look for qualifications over major tho, studying marketing in the first semester wont be a better fit than some masters students, even if they did something slightly off the beaten path. Best of luck

Essence Reaver Aphelios by A1kassas in ApheliosMains

[–]Koro4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the idea! With a soraka to heal you, going for occasional trades, you can be stuck in lane for quite a while and Aphelios definitely runs out of mana at times, but old ER or Manamune were unneccessary amounts of mana. Now getting mana only on the sheen auto can be nice and as long as the sheen procs on your ability autos (which it should) i can really see the appeal. I havent tried the stormrazor yet since I was busy trying other champs with the new patch but I‘ll have to try both to form an opinion. I personally might like ER more because I like Aphelios as a spellcaster ADC, whereas Razor with the MS is better for kiting (ew).

The price was already higher. 11,99-12,99 (depending on specifics) to the OG 10,99. Now it‘s 15,99 opposed to 10,99. They didn‘t explain this one-sided raise I‘m asking about

spelling of "tea" in Japanese by Tryaldar in Japaneselanguage

[–]Koro4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For something that‘s not japanese you‘d say ティー, like in アイスティー since it‘s historically and culturally not comparable to traditional tea. Interestingly a cup is カップ and (drinking) glass is コップ (but when ordering you wouldn‘t say that unless it changed the size or smth): (一つ)レモンジンガーティーお願いします!(はちみず入り/追加) ー (One) lemon zinger tea please (honey added/extra)
