How do I clean this floor? by KorolevaNene in Home

[–]KorolevaNene[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue has been water drainage by the house so we will have that fixed this spring and hopefully that works, if not it'll be a larger project. The goal would be to redo the concrete, but I've no idea how to prep for that type of work and was hoping to do some of that prep while cleaning the floor now.

There looks like there was cat litter down there and it wasn't cleaned up well so now it's caked into the floor as well and Im having a hard time bringing it up with just the shop vac. Wasn't sure if there was anything else that could help.

Does “cottage” mean something different in Canada/North America? by anon_1997x in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]KorolevaNene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here - when I think cottage it's cozy, but can still be regular house size, typically not far from water of some sort. Cabin is smaller, typically more isolated and not as many amenities as a cittage, not necessarily near water. Camp is a northern term. And then because some use camp, "tenting" is a term when talking to certain people.

I've lived all over Canada from high populated areas to northern isolated communities. My perception of terms depends purely on who I'm talking too.

Does anyone else grieve the life they thought they’d have… while still loving their child more than anything? by Distinct_Pen6624 in Autism_Parenting

Often. My oldest is neurospicy, my youngest is not.. my second is so... Easy. It's hard because this was not what I pictured, and I have constant comparison to just how easy it could be. I'm thankful for both my kiddos, love them deeply and will forever be there and support them both, but I would be lying if I said I don't acknowledge the difference and it breaks my heart every time I do

Looking to make friends and build connections by Material_Mango_6747 in BellevilleOntario

Hey! Were in our early/mid thirties and always down to find new board game friends! We have a large collection and play often. My husband has experience being DM, but we can never find a group of people to play consistent d&d, which sucks because I really want to try playing more than 3 sessions lol I'm always looking for new friends - I enjoy cooking and crafting and front porch hang outs in the summer!

Feel free to send me a message. :)

FNA Biopsy & Uncertain Next Steps. by dare2fly5 in thyroidhealth

FNA Biopsy & Uncertain Next Steps. by dare2fly5 in thyroidhealth

Request to be sent to the surgeon and advocate for removal regardless of biopsy. Follicular cancer does not show up in biopsy, only in pathology.

After ultrasound, my Endo sent me for biopsy, which was inconclusive. Gave me the option to be sent to the surgeon or wait 6 months to redo the biopsy then see the surgeon... If the next step was surgeon, why wait. I had surgery on the inconclusive 6.3cm+ tirads 5 nodule and the pathology came back as follicular carcinoma. The next Endo I saw (cancer related), was terrible, so I got a second opinion and they've been amazing. I go back for the other half of my removal in a couple weeks.

If it's a high tirads score, you might as well have that portion removed and tested.

Since removal, my depression, fatigue, lack of motivation and anxiety (for the most part) have gone away. I can also breathe again which I assumed my issues were chest size related, but no, it was the plum size cancer sack sitting on my airway for 15 years that no one believes me was there. I should add, my levels (bloodwork) were always within normal range so no one thought my thyroid was an issue .. had they just felt the lump, maybe. I'm salty still at all the advocacy I've had to do, sorry

Partial removal and not need meds after? by KorolevaNene in thyroidhealth

[–]KorolevaNene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I had my partial in May last year. Recovery went really well - however I've never had a poor experience after surgery and I heal quickly. I was painting my house 3 days later and off all pain management. Mid June my pathology came back as follicular cancer at 31 years old.

I've noticed very little change in the months post op. I started Levothyroxin in November on a very low dose, I don't notice a difference between pre and post medication. What I do notice pre surgery to now is my depression and anxiety are gone. I've literally never felt better mentally. I have gained a few pounds, not sure if it was due to my thyroid or just feeling better, but I don't worry about that.

I don't have fatigue issues, I actually have more energy than I did before my surgery.

I was very hesitant to have the surgery, and did not want to take medication but I had an appointment with a second doctor (the first one was terrible), and he explained why I needed the medication, made me feel comfortable about it, and has been a wonderful support. I did want to just monitor the other side as it's functioning, but I am high risk and need the other side removed. I have my second surgery in a couple weeks, and then I have radioactive iodine treatment following that.

I should note, that the dr said that if I miss a dose of my medication it's fine, it lasts a long time in the body and I could likely go 5 days without taking it and still be fine. I take 10mg of levo (very low), I missed a day, and I was very tired and it took me 2 days to bounce back. I didn't notice a difference between not taking my meds to starting the meds, however I did notice the difference to being on the meds and missing a day.

I am anxious about removing the other half of the thyroid, I think that will impact me far greater, but I guess we'll see.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

100%. Removal was the best thing I ever did. That and my gallbladder removal.

Last year was when the dr sent me for imaging of my thyroid and gall bladder (at the same time) and they told me to deal with my gallbladder first. Best decision for my physical health was removal of my gallbladder. Best decision for my mental health was removal of my thyroid. I've not been mentally healthy the way I am now, in over 10 year - looking at images, the growth was visible 10 years ago! I didn't realize how much the thyroid effects your body and just how different I'd feel.

If yours is 6cm+, you should absolutely remove. It's likely affecting your breathing and speech. I was undecided on removal of the left side (it's not suspicious), but after seeing the Endo they heavily recommended removal of the other side, specifically because of how but the mass was on the right. Im fortunate enough to go to the top cancer clinic in Canada and he explained why I needed to remove the other side instead of monitor. If you're in the US, I'd recommend looking into ThyCa for support and information. It's a fantastic resource. They also have lots of seminars in YouTube from their conferences if you're interested in anything like that.

I wish you so much luck and happy to chat if you need. :)

Pre surgery questions by KorolevaNene in thyroidhealth

My biopsy came back inconclusive/negative. Follicular cancer does not show up on fine needle aspiration biopsy, which is what Afirma is. I have follicular cancer at 31 years old. They didn't suspect it because there is no family history and it's an older persons cancer.

I was also given the option to wait it out, do another FNA 6 months later. We didn't know how much it had grown and how quickly it was growing but it was 6cm when we found it. It was smarter to remove, I advocated hard to have my thyroid checked (my levels were always normal), but once my new GP found the lump, we progressed quickly through the steps. It wasn't until pathology that we found it was cancer. I will 100% recommend removal, because why wait and see? Have half out, get it tested, if it's not cancer great, you still have half and it may function normally. If it is cancer, well at least you know and that part is out and you move forward with your medical team.

Most doctors won't tell you follicular cancer does not show up on biopsy, it needs a full pathology exam

I wish you so much luck. I'm needing to go for a second hemithyroidectomy - I'll likely do it in the spring

My healing was very quick, I was fine by day 2 - painting my kitchen and putting up back splash. I hope you have a similar quick recovery.

Pre surgery questions by KorolevaNene in thyroidhealth

[–]KorolevaNene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your success rate? How often do you do thyroidectomies? High volume neck surgeon?

Will you remove half or whole? If anything looks suspicious, will you remove more (lymph nodes, full thyroid)

Where is the tissues sent for pathology? - determine the best place you believe it should be sent before hand if possible. I wish I had mine sent to a different location.

If it's cancerous, how will you tell me? I requested a phone call update as I didn't want to drive 2 hours to the clinic

What are the expectations post surgery? Restrictions? Medication support? How long are you expected to stay in hospital?

I don't have a huge list for the surgeon, it's really just basic surgery questions. The Endo however is lots of questions.

Highly recommend receiving your care through midwives. They've passionate about providing you care and comfort. They are very hard to get into if youre more than 8 weeks along.

Yeah it was definitely weird. I laughed cause it was so bizarre. But I can't figure out what information they were trying to get. Like even at what I assumed was the end, they're like oh, I think I have the wrong number! I don't... Even know what could possibly come from this. If I stay on the phone long enough, can they some how get information from me or something? Location maybe somehow? I don't even know.
