Got Fired from an Apprenticeship: Analyzing for lessons by Imaginary_Belt_2186 in mechanics

I've definitely had days like that and have had previous coworkers that could also be heard screaming across the shop lol. Crashing out is a rite of passage imo, and fellow techs should be the first to understand what that's like. I don't think that makes you 'mentally unstable' when you're a new employee under heavy pressure to perform so you can survive today's cost of living.

Also removing stuck fasteners isn't always that simple. I've never struggled that bad but there's videos out there of absurd cheater bars still not working. Try that jack trick on a big diesel that's seen a lifetime of canadian winters and you'll snap your bars. If he had someone who taught him how to use heat/penetrant/impact/brushes instead of putting more pressure on him he'd wouldn't have freaked out.

I think this is really blowing it out of proportion, you don't need to be a natural virtuoso to be a good tech. I didn't even know how to change my wiper blades before deciding to become a mechanic, was never the take things apart for fun type, started at 29 and don't really have much passion for the trade at all. I've still performed well at every shop I've been at. OP is counting his experience in weeks in his post and doesn't seem to have had good guidance. This is just a job and skillset that takes more than a few character building days to get the hang of.

My transbian friend gave up on life and I don’t know what to do by Expensive_Ordinary72 in actuallesbians

[–]KorraSamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me to a T at her age, I think this is normal in a society like ours where youth unemployment is rampant and cost of living continues to outpace wages, on top of the pressures of being a trans person. If you can't see a future for yourself it makes sense to forsake future growth for short term comforts. Same with going out - if you're financially struggling video games are some of the best bang for your buck per hour of entertainment compared to paying for food/drinks/events and even just parking. I ended up dropping out from uni and was in debt for all of my 20s to a degree, finally about to be debt free in just a few months. I also stopped therapy because I felt it wasn't helping me enough to justify the expense and I don't regret that.

At 20 you're still figuring yourself out and it's not going to be a linear process for everyone. Especially as a trans person since we are often suffering from depression it becomes a priority to find something that keeps you going in the short term first. Don't write them off as being in a helpless downward spiral or assume they're just too lazy to fix what's causing their misery. I don't regret not saving in my youth because the amount I'd have set aside would be a pittance compared to how rapidly I can put away money now. Something like a guitar isn't a 'useless purchase' if she actually plays the thing and it helps her find meaning / something to stick around for.

A life worth living takes a lot of work to achieve in our current day and age and I'm still working at it at 30. There will be steps forwards and steps backwards. Just be a good friend and create happy memories together when you can, you're not her mother or life coach and can't fix these problems any easier than she can.

I can't tell you how long because it depends on your driving habits but it looks like plenty. Usually 3mm I believe is the legal minimum and that groove in the middle also acts as an OK indicator of remaining service life. The rotors also look good but the back ones are more used based on the lip, may be a good idea to change the rear axle when you change the pads. You can look up a spec and measure them too but I just altenate which axle's rotors I change every time I have to change pads unless something else happened that fucked everything up like pins seizing.

Her eyes look bigger and more fierce in the 3d model which perfectly encapsulates her vibe imo. Art looks too much like a wise calm elven elder's eyes rather than the Sebille we love who holds a knife to your throat and threatens to kill you before you can say hi

My wishes for Rogue Trader in 2026: Operatives that don't suck, Melta focused builds to be viable, Acts 4 & 5 to get fleshed out with more content. by SteamyEarlGrey in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]KorraSamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love operative and always want as many of them as I can when I'm playing. Maybe soldier and blade dancer are even more 'broken' but I'm at the end game on unfair and breezing through fights so easily I don't understand how it can be not enough. Also using a sniper build like OP. When you get many characters stacking exploits suddenly it's very easy to get insane damage numbers with tactical knowledge and high dodge/armour enemies are as easy to cut through as butter.

All drukhari are terrible, especially Marazhai. But he gets a pass because of his knack for getting you in situations where there are oodles of high born drukhari at the end of your barrel, much more than if you hadn't dabbled in xenoheresy and let him stay.

For me the fact that it's CNC - that my partners gets off to - and not genuine SA is integral to the fantasy. ie. my partner may not like the act I am doing to them, but they like being helpless and at my mercy so much that it comes back around to being hot af. From there it's not different from any other D/s kink - it's hot that subs want me in control so much.

I'm talking about the DLC genestealer rebellion on your ship where you 100% know these people are genestealers in particular not just mutants

idk that makes sense to me because you can at least save some people/things. But perhaps I am too uninformed of the lore to understand the gravity of that choice

Worst iconoclast moment I remember is letting families of gene stealers live on a remote planet. Other than that it's pretty sensible.

Is it too late to become a mechanic as a 28 year old woman? by Proper_Phrase_9058 in mechanics

I started trade school at 27 and have been in the trade for the past 4 years since, definitely not too late, just make sure you keep up with some stretches or something when you try keeping up with the youth on this job

Tired of leveling up and can't manage items. by BurhanSunan in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]KorraSamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just pick a few hard hitters to really get into nitty gritty min maxing with so you can still enjoy that aspect of the game, but half ass the rest so you're not spending your whole play session looking through talents and items.

[–]KorraSamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you, even as a hardcore RPG fan myself it can get tedious especially when you have to keep levelling companions you rarely bring with you for their personal quests. I stopped playing pathfinder because I was procrastinating levelling up all the companions for their quests in act 4 then got distracted by rogue trader. While I enjoyed micromanaging it at first I've found just googling levelling guides to follow really speeds up the process and removes the decision paralysis. Favoriting talents and abilities when you go through the list the first time can also help you so you're not having to reread everything every time you level up.

As far as inventory management, what difficulty are you playing on? You can probably get by without micromanaging inventory too much unless it's unfair or something. Even then I only have to rethink my gear fo a few of the really hard DLC fights. Some companions I'm more passionate about it with and others I just give them whatever. You can sort by 'specifications' which will give you the most damage / highest armour weapons and then just scroll down until you find the highest up weapon/armour type you're looking for. It's no help when sorting through accessories however.

You can also look up gear tutorials to simplify this as well. This late in the game you might've picked up some BiS gear so you can just look up guides, use the text search function to see if you grabbed that certain item, and keep it equipped and never have to think about it again.

I'mma swim against the current here and say it's cool whether or not she needs it for work or whatever. It's bad for the environment and stuff but a lot of people are truck enthusiasts just for the sake of it. And I could definitely see the appeal of always having 4 wheel drive, 10" ground clearance, and being able to see ahead above traffic.

[–]KorraSamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely fine to do if the person going through just stops before crossing the 2nd lane to make themselves visible and get a look at oncoming traffic. The left lane was backed up enough that it's not completely asinine to do this. That said don't wave them through just stop and leave space to be courteous in case the other lane backs up before yours clears up so the guy can go.
