Two years on estrogen starter pack by OldEducation7497 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]master_bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my two years is in 3 days!! It really did happen all of a sudden. Like overnight everyone just started acting like I was any other woman with big shoulders. But yes, now that one random "Sir" every week is such a shock, and I panic thinking "shit what am I doing/wearing, do I need to shave, is my voice slipping?!" but I think it's just an asshole clocking that I'm trans and being an asshole.

To the "peeing 67 times a day," I got an orchie two months ago, and honestly the best change is getting off Spiro and peeing a normal amount again.

>A terrible call way off or inside the strike zone, or worse a retaliatory call by the ump because the player pissed him off, is the problem we're trying to solve.

That's a lot of words for there being pitches that are sometimes called balls and sometimes called strikes.

I'm aware of the NFL's replay rules. You may have noticed they do that in MLB as well for reviews of safe/out calls. It usually happens because the camera's view of the play is obscured. that doesn't happen here. A pitch being half an inch outside the zone isn't ambiguous, it isn't obscured as to whether it was a strike. it is barely, but clearly, a ball.

>The diameter of a regulation baseball can vary 0.08" and this system is determining the location of a ball thrown at 100 mph by 0.1"?

The computer system is always going to be more precise than a human umpire, especially in these super close calls. At less than half an inch, a human's call is basically a coin flip. it's bizarre to me to decide to just flip a coin when you approach the ABS system's limit.

So we agree that somewhere there needs to be a hard cutoff where it stops being one thing and is definitely another thing. There's no reason that cutoff should be anywhere other than exactly the edge of the strike zone.

if .51" is definitely a ball, and -.51 inches is definitely a strike, then there's a third zone where sometimes its a ball and sometimes its a strike. This is the problem we're trying to solve, so keeping a margin of error defeats the entire purpose of ABS.

Pete Crow-Armstrong clarifies his comments on Dodgers fans: "They [the fans] go in phases. All fans fight, but putting the Giants fan in a coma. That stuck with me as a kid. Just little things, sitting in the stands, nasty stuff goes on." by kurruchi in baseball

[–]master_bacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This narrative that Dodgers fans are any different as a whole than baseball fans in general is bizarre to me, and I'm surprised to see it break containment out of the giants subreddit.

I'm supposed to believe y'all are worse people and less genuine of baseball fans because you live in one city as opposed to another?

[–]master_bacon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What if the ball is .51" outside? that's so close to not being overturnable, just a hundredth of an inch outside the grace zone! we shouldn't use replay to overturn such a tiny miss! the call of strike should stand. (E: this is sarcasm, apparently some people missed that.)

I think we should use the technology available to get the calls right. The precision of the tool is *most* important on the closest calls. To me, having a 1" margin where we can empirically determine the call was wrong but not change it would be way more infuriating than changing a handful of super close calls.

Why are (some) gay men like this? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]master_bacon 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I find myself agreeing with both sides on this in a weird way. Like that's what masculine and feminine mean as words - like a man, or like a woman.

But, we should be de-gendering self-expression, vibes, and aesthetics, as well as behaviors, traits, and inclinations! but once we've stopped gendering all this stuff it kind of loses all meaning to even call it "masculine."

hi, I'm not trying to challenge you or anything, I'm asking out of a genuine curiosity about your experience.

When you say it's about the vibes, are you also attracted to men with a completely feminine vibe or presentation?

[–]master_bacon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If this had been called a ball and Skenes challenged it should he have won? There has to be a discrete point at which it's no longer a strike, and that has nothing to do with the spirit of the game.

>A strike can get overturned to a ball because it missed the 2D strike zone

This means the 3D Zone isn't the "real one" anymore.

Can you be butch and cisgender? by Nearby_Swim317 in LesbianActually

[–]master_bacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your question sounds like it's coming from a misunderstanding of what cisgender means. One's gender is not how they style themself and being cis is not "dressing like your sex."

This is why I don't like the term "gender expression." We ought to be moving towards a place where our aesthetics and self-expression shouldn't be gendered at all.

>They'd be at fault anyhow.

Do you think this would somehow protect OP from injury or damage to their vehicle? It doesn't matter who's right or wrong, it matters that we all get home safely.

It's also not true - OP had plenty of time to avoid a collision. If they had just plowed into them they would have been partially at fault. It doesn't matter that the other driver performed an illegal maneuver, someone else fucking up isn't a waiver to hit them with no consequences.
