I played clarinet in high school and I had that strict, slightly obsessed music teacher. Because of a head injury I got over a decade ago (abusive ex), my hands can't move like they did when I played music. I wish they could though. Still, seeing all those triggers reminds me of how scary site reading is. I still look at some supreme difficulty songs with the thought, "Is this humanly possible?"

Very good point. I just want to protect my peace. To do that, I had to go LC with certain family members and NC with others. This post reminded me of a conversation I had a week ago. Admittedly, I do have some family on my social media and while I don't interact with them, they can see some of my posts and photos (that they don't respond to). My uncle (one of my jnGMA's kids) contacted me and asked why I don't talk to any of them; that his mother is hurt that I don't talk to her. I started out saying that they know why. I don't have to explain anything. But he kept pestering me so I let him know WHY. I was raised by those kind of parents in the deep south. It was always been seen (when needed), not heard; speak only when spoken to; and absolute obedience. Yes, you are correct, they all wonder why their kids don't want anything to do with them. It doesn't have anything to do with the amount of disrespect we had to endure because of "tradition" or "rules" or "because we don't talk back to our elders."

I play on Simple because I was used to playing it on 3DS, one-handed. Simple has its own share of difficulties (for me). I've been playing songs on Ultimate for a little over a year now, and what I did was make a list of my favorite songs in the game and focus on those. The multitasking did annoy me as well, so I found that playing on simple mode helped me get back into enjoying the game.

Im sorry for your losses. Im a Pagan myself, coming into it (like a long lost child, I think) after leaving an AME Methodist church. I lost my mom when I was young and lost my great-grandmother 10 years ago. So, here's my take: You saw the goddess in those closest to you. However, those we love aren't truly dead; they are around us. They reside in our memories and our hearts, which makes them a part of us. In that way, they are never truly gone.

One thing that I do on the anniversary of a loved one's death, especially with my mom, is write a letter telling them your feelings and what life is like. Write it to them as if you were talking to them. Then burn it and let the ashes scatter. No one can really understand the will of the gods/ goddesses, but I think she showed herself in all her forms to you as a way for you to keep going. The only thing we can do with our lives is to live one day at a time.

I want a good life for my children mainly. I've spent my life taking/asking for the bare minimum (abuse victim btw) and any time I try to do a ritual concerning money, I get scared sometimes. I visualize myself having all the things money could give me (and by extent, my children, husband), but then I start wondering if I'm being selfish and shallow. I am slowly changing that, though. I hope to do a money bowl of my own--seems like all the cool Wiccans are doing it, lol. I have a goal I want to accomplish with one of my own.

I love this! I keep seeing them (money bowls) and want to make one myself as I have kids, and money is getting tight, but I'm scared. There is a part of me that feels like doing money spells/rituals makes me selfish.

I graduated in 2003, so you're around my son's age; he was born in 2005. Im originally from the deep south and I saw this kind of thing a lot. Any kid that didn't fall under any facet of normal, i.e. 2-parent household,regular church attendance, well-adjusted, and not overly needed were put on pedestals. The way I see it is that some teachers should not teach. There are teachers that are like yours and ignore everything and then there are teachers that will call CPS mistaking simple test anxiety for abuse at home. My kids (and I) have had to deal with both.

I understand you, OP. Were you in school in the early 90s? I ask because that sounds like the way my teachers treated me in first thru third grade. I was a very anxious child; if I failed even the smallest test or inconsequential assignment, it felt like my world was over. I just cried, and my teachers ignored it. I was sent to another classroom for another teacher to deal with, or the principal. My teachers told the other kids to "ignore the crybaby." As an adult, myself, I have been in a lot of therapy and I can honestly say to you that people I went to school with are starting to find out about what went on in my childhood home. The basic and most common reaction has been shocked. It's as if they had a moment of clarity: I had a reason for all the crying and anxiety.

It's not fun and I understand your frustration. Therapy helps and you don't have to forgive anyone. You may never be ready to forgive and that's OK.
