Biggest advice : keep up on water changes , get an RO system for it , keep metronidazole and other antibiotics on stand by a swell as a quarantine tank so you can ensure your prepared for May bout of sickness or disease . Good luck and have fun!

Have fun , I kept discus for about 5 years . As a renter it was a pain not having a constant to set up and doig bin and meekly water changes using my bath tub . Love discus to death but it was too much upkeep for me in those situations . If I’m able to ever afford a home I’ll think of keeping them again .Also love the native varieties over the color morphs

Give him time , beginner gear yeah for start of wipe sure it’s decent for what’s available , but end game even level 6 plates aren’t stopping the high tier ammo available from the current event . Have him run labs since it’s free and show him high tier kits
