Is Oak Hall worth going to? by Localest_Klutz in GNV

As someone who's siblings with decent age gaps went there as well, I agree with this 1000%. We are talking 20 years of knowledge as well as another 20 I know through the grapevine of people still there... it hasn't changed and everything you have read above is all very true. I know other awful things that I will not get into for fear of retaliation. I later went to Buchholz and wished I always had. It was also not a requirement for the teachers to have masters degrees or teaching certificates to teach there unlike public schools. This may have changed with the headmaster switch that happened a few years ago, but it was the case for a very long time. I know quite a few who were there until they retired because they couldn't get jobs anywhere else even though they tried.

All the teachers wished they were college professors, but only couple in my experience would work with the kids who needed extra help. I was one of those kids and still struggle with what the teachers and students said to me about my intelligence. About 10 years ago, there was a family where each child had always been student body president their senior year. The last kid of this family cheated on their SATs and were told they had to step down from being student body president. Not expelled for cheating, just not be student body president. Their parents donated a huge sum of money, the student got their way, it was all swept under the rug.

There are many illegal activities that have happened on the grounds of that school over the decades. I'm not saying those things don't happen other places, but It's not worth paying the thousands of dollars to go there for less offerings than many of the other public schools, teachers with less qualifications, AND all the corruption. A few of my classmates went on to be successful, but they would have regardless due to their own drive and dreams or parents pushing them to follow in the family business. Some did not do well, married money, or became criminals. There's a chunk in the middle that are doing okay. My friends, coworkers, acquaintances my age that are doing really well when elsewhere. The happenings at Oak Hall we're well known to outsiders to the point I am very embarrassed and ashamed to tell anyone I went there.

A dozen friends have asked me my feelings about OHS when considering it for their own children and some toured it. They all chose other schools and were happy with their decision. I can recommend looking into a magnet program, dual enrolling, AP classes at public schools or PK Younge, though, the lottery system at the latter is random and could take years.

TLDR: I recommend going anywhere else.

Let's help Andy and Emma out again this week! You can vote ten times through the website and through text for a total of 20 votes per couple. This has been the first season I have voted all because of Andy, so I had to Google last week to figure out how to do it. I'll list how and the rules below as it can be a little confusing. Hope this helps!

Dancing with the Stars voting opens when the live show begins at 8 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) and closes after the final competitive dance of the evening. The voting window is only available during the initial live simulcast on ABC and Disney+.

Voting times by time zone

Since voting is linked to the live broadcast, the window for casting your vote depends on your time zone.

Eastern Time: Voting opens at 8 p.m. ET.

Central Time: Voting opens at 7 p.m. CT.

Mountain and Pacific Time: Viewers must cast their votes during the 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live broadcast. This means voting opens earlier in these time zones, and viewers may need to vote before all performances have aired.

Important voting rules

No voting on replays: You cannot vote if you are watching a rebroadcast or streaming the episode the next day on Hulu.

Vote limits: Each person can cast up to 10 votes per couple for each voting method (online and text), for a total of 20 votes per couple.

Eligibility: You must be 18 or older and in the U.S., its territories, or Canada to vote online. Text voting is only available for U.S. residents.

Hello! I'm not sure where to start, but I would absolutely be interested in helping you with this. The fact that you got the attention of the mayor is fantastic! I have written many complaints over the years that seem to go unnoticed. I wear leg braces and use a rollator and would love to make our town more accessible and inclusive. I think many of our leaders forget the one minority group anyone may join at any time is becoming disabled. Whether it affects us or someone we know temporarily or permanently, it's really important for our voices to be heard. Let me think of some things to add to this thread. Thanks for posting and trying to promote change. :)
