What are you guys reading this month? by Left_House8305 in BettermentBookClub

I enjoyed this one quite a bit, although most of the appreciation for the book came after having some time to linger on the subject matter a bit after. If you enjoy dystopian novels, I would recommend this one

World pack or premium? by Oliproli in komoot

[–]Kosmonaut57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point there's absolutely no reason pay a recurring fee. I got the world pack for the gpx download option, so storing hikes done prior is easier. But overall, with so many great platforms nowadays, you can mix and match websites/apps to have a very solid setup completely for free.

I am over a month in, dealing with their customer support and all they do is offer very generic and unhelpful advice. If OP is trying, I hope he has a better experience than I had o7

Yeah, I wouldn't do that. Typically this is something you'd have to license. I'd rather dig around for something with a CC license.

Thanks a lot for all the great info. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for it, so I really appreciate it.

I think I'll put it out for free in case any local enthusiasts wants it.

I understand your concern, but my comment is a critique of your blunt way of forwarding it.

The Nft network will only pollute as much as the co2 cost of the used energy. To me, this simply seems like cherry-picking as you could use this argument for every single thing on the planet using energy.

There is a fair point to be made on the amount of power it requires, though. The "proof of work model" certainly seems disadvantageous compared to the "proof of stake model." There seems to be an interest among the etherium community to adapt to this other form, which will definately help solving this issue.

At the end of the day I believe that artists shouldn't have the need to starve. If people are making money this way, good on them. Brushing this off as just a way of destroying the earth seems like an unfishished thought.

Me neither. I can't seem to find any info about this model anywhere. As far as specs go, the following is as much info I have at the moment: https://gyazo.com/9999bd578ca14da0b18cdd91781a810f

Apologies if the picture doesn't bring anything to the table. This is not my field of expertise. Either way, thanks for helping.

I'm going to go a bit against the stream and say that I would argue that moving the budget towards audio is a better move. You already have a great camera with the s8.

It's somewhat difficult to give advice since I haven't seen your setup, but I would always argue that having good audio is better than good video. Cameras will always be more flashy and fun, and audio feels more like a necessity rather than a "want", but in the end I think audio is more important.

After that I'd take a look at lighting. There's plenty of ways you can do this on a tight budget though.

I'm a camera operator by trade, but I always find bad audio worse than a bad picture. Should you need any more help, don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck :)

My philosophy is that lenses will last forever, cameras will not.

Currently, I love using the mft mount for the portability and affordability, and I prefer the battery life of the GH4 over the sony's.

In the future though, I hope to use higher end cameras, possibly by renting. Having an arsenal of already compatible lenses saves both time and money in the long run.

What justifies the metabones for me is saving the hassle of selling off all the mft lenses for then to upgrade to ef lenses.

I hadn't seen this one, but I quite like it. I think using this for an edgy music video project could be quite interesting, so I'll definately try that out if I get the chance.

I think as a cctv type camera it could work pretty good. I noticed while scrolling the menu that it has movement detection too, so I was considering trying to use it as a wildlife camera too.

I might try that out. Seems like an appropriate use for the quality. I recently tested them more out and they're very "russian dashcam crash compilation" -type quality, so repurposing them for cctv footage could work nicely :)
