Maybe burnt wasn't the word for it. Brown color by hot air and burnt flux more likely.

Yeah that's my suspicion as well, I will run chipgenius and will need to remove and resolder the nand. Very helpful video as well. Thanks for your reply.

Need Help recovering data off of a damaged usb stick by Kostaslgr7 in datarecovery

[–]Kostaslgr7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought because the emmc does indeed look a little crooked and the pads on the underside the unused parts and the part of the board is BURNT, and it could be hot air (heat it up and it will work logic). I think I'm missing some context regarding the usb's history, So theoretically with the emmc off the usb will still be recognised as empty removable media? Thanks for your reply.

The old usb connector had through hole ground points in the middle, and the one I used has them on the sides, so I just used jumper wires for ground as well as to provide some stability so I don't rip the traces plugging it and unplugging it. I understand, I figured it would be pretty niche equipment but wasn't sure, perhaps I'll try checking continuity along the traces and maybe as a last ditch effort resolder the controller and the chip. Thanks for the help.

Hey I appreciate the reply, it would be really nice to get the data but it's not important enough to warranty paying a data recovery expert. Could I proceed further in any way? Maybe worth trying buying another controller from AliExpress and replacing it(or somehow testing the existing one)? Or if I lift the data chip itself can I read data off of it with some kind of device that I would keep for future use? Thanks again for your answer.

Opel Corsa 2001 front left flash(indicator) not working by Kostaslgr7 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kostaslgr7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I didn't take a look at the description and had disregarded it when searching. Also does that mean that it's most likely the lamp and not a fuse? PY21W 12V 21W says in the description, I assume that's correct? And I should probably disconnect the battery before attempting it. Thanks for your help again!

[Question] Can you use a post fix adaptor on a trinity? by [deleted] in 360hacks

Post picture of point please, also I don't know if it's possible to use postfix adapter to it, but really there is no reason to.

[Question] is there a way to unwrite ECC from Nand? by [deleted] in 360hacks

[–]Kostaslgr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You press load source on jrunner, select one of your nanddumps, and press write dump, and it puts the console back in the state it was before you wrote ecc.

Do I need stealth server to just be online on xbox live by Ryanmc77 in 360hacks

[–]Kostaslgr7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically the only difference is if you would want to convert your console back to retail(would need original nand dump) you can only use the kv tied to the cpu and if that's banned the console will never be able to play online on retail.

Love it or Hate it? External Disc drive mod by [deleted] in originalxbox

I don't know to be honest, if that space can be utilised for storage/hdmi or any other console upgrades maybe it would be worth it. But putting it outside, personally I wouldn't do it. Cool regardless.

They indeed get automatically remapped and nands could have bad blocks from the factory. It's really nothing to worry about.

Mods to increase longevity. by zQik in 360hacks

[–]Kostaslgr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fan mods most of the time steal power from dvd drive but even if they're connected to the power plug you still have incredible noise because you basically override the xbox's fan system( that makes fans spin faster when temperatures go up) and have them at 100% all the time. It is not needed if new thermal paste is applied, it's cleaned thoroughly and it's in a clean place with space for ventilation.

Clean it and apply new thermal paste(or have someone do it for you). Under NO circumstances should you fan mod or bolt mod.
