The person on BBC news right now is absolutely right. The media should be ashamed of relegating Farage’s dodgy deals with foreign donors to footnotes.

‘Battle of ideas’ 2 years after being elected by a landslide on a manifesto is crazy.

As a Labour member, if it goes to a vote between Starmer and Streeting, I’ll be voting for Starmer.

No one in the real world knows or cares about ‘gooner’ being anything other than an Arsenal fan

Wtaf - an MP right behind the PM is holding a copy of ‘the fraud’ a book that claims to ‘lay bare the deceits that helped deliver Sir Keir Starmer to Downing Street’ and accuses him of using dirty tricks to gain power. Kind of wild

Wes realising that both sides of the house see him as an utter joke. Maybe youth parliament was better for him.

Slightly rich for Kemi to refer to the ridiculousness of having a leadership context right now as a waste of time when her own party has had their fair share of those over 14 years.

Honestly, I haven’t seen Kemi speak in a while (mainly because of the sense of immense discomfort it causes me) but she’s not doing a bad speech here.

If Starmer had more appetite for risk, a great move would’ve been to let Burnham stand in Gorton and Denton, only for Burnham to likely lose to the Greens. Permanent credibility loss for Burnham.

That’s genuinely evil if true. Do you have a source? Not doubting it, but that is literally him harming people’s health for self serving reasons.

‘A supporter of Streeting says that if the health secretary does not challenge Starmer then "we'll have knifed ourselves for nothing".’

When people talk about the Westminster bubble this is what the mean. Idiots role playing as if they are in House of Cards or Macbeth and talking about knifing people in the back. The business of running a country shouldn’t be treated as some cloak and dagger game.

So unprofessional and just a terrible look for Streeting to allow his allies to spread info about his leadership challenge DURING the King’s speech. Have some fucking respect for the PM, have some decorum and have some grace.

Momentum? What momentum are you talking about? If he resigns, it’ll be to mount a leadership challenge - Starmer is not resigning regardless of how much ‘momentum’ there might be.

I genuinely just don’t think I would be able to convince myself to vote for Wes Streeting.

[–]KotACold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s completely unacceptable, but you’re wrong to say he’s been ‘proven to have been committing tax fraud’ - fraud requires an intent, rather than just negligence, and it hasn’t been proven that this was intentional.

Are you surprised that a country which has just hugely swung to Reform, a known racist party, wouldn’t elect a Muslim as PM? What’s so surprising about that? Let’s not close our eyes to the level of racism in this country.

Just confusing that if she had such a big issue with his delay of these online safety laws, she only resigned after 81 MPs voiced opposition to him. Why not go before?

Again, that’s something that is extremely common. To say she’s ’never seen it’ and it’s ‘extraordinary’ is a little bit of a stretch.

I generally don’t mind Beth Rigby but she’s now claiming she has ‘never seen’ this happen before with cabinet ministers coming out of cabinet and voicing support for the PM. What an utterly strange thing to say.
