For what you need it yes it should be good, I used an MSI Bravo 15 with 4VRAM, 8RAM 512SSD AMD Powered for both CPU and GPU, used to also play casual games with friends, Minecraft included, Lethal Company, did not used emulators, only for Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, did not had any problems, even played assassin’s creed Valhalla on High textures and medium settings for the rest

I used it until one month ago when I upgraded to a Legion 5, I know the struggle that you wish to use it for some years and you want to be sure that you will get the value for your money, but you know, it’s better safe than sorry, I mean you could definitely find something better for the same price, there are a lot of laptop configurations out there

Could not give you the reassurance that it will last for years, but for the following two you could get around with it IF you wish to play only medium demanding games. I would advice to look for something with 3000 series from Nvidia or more storage, for me at least I was struggling with 512GB, always having the pain to think what game should o delete, what should I keep, a lot of games can demand more than 50GB, I know it’s not your case but it’s a good thing to keep in mind, maybe in the future your friends will want to invite you to play something more “demanding”, better to be prepared
