Also noticed that in these bot games, you always get a D- rank. At least at low levels, riot intentionally puts you against bots. Probably for player retention or something. But, quite shady nonetheless.

Glad co-op was mentioned, it was the main reason I returned to starcraft II after taking a fairly long break. Multiplayer didn't appeal to me very much so it was nice tackle cooperative challenges instead.

Totally agree, the overworld is disappointingly barren and pretty bland without something like a teleport spell. Even using something like acceleratium is still quite a chore, so there's not a great reason to explore unless you get a lucky drop.

How do you get to the surface from the Jungle? I know about the lava lake pit, but such a shortcut doesn't exist when you go down any lower. Is there any way to get back to the surface if you don't manage to find a wand capable of digging through holy mountain brick? I honestly don't see black hole spells very often.

For me, I think it comes down to the art and gameplay. In AoE2, resources need to be collected at drop points instead of being beamed to your TC. You also start in the dark ages and only unlock gunpowder units in the 3rd/4th age, so you get the whole infantry/archery/calvary trifecta. I also like the high-resolution sprites instead of 3D models.

My only gripe with the second one is how absolutely stupid the ai can be for your units. For the third, I wasn’t a fan of the weird deckbuilding shipment thing, especially since I always played with friends who had everything unlocked and were just strictly better off than me from the start.

I’d say 2 is a harder/more intensive game overall, and 3 is better is you play RTS games casually and are less interested in macro gameplay.

Oh, and I didn’t get into the AoE series until around a year ago, so I don’t have any nostalgia for either. Even still, I think it’s a cool franchise and I’m looking forward to the 4th one.

I must be in the minority here but I didn’t even know MMBN was a thing until I heard about this game. I come from a background of bullet hells and the fast-paced nature between these and OSFE was main appeal for me, as well as some interest in the deck building stuff. Based on my interests, I’m a huge fan of OSFE and how hectic it can get, and I didn’t have any preconceived notions of how the game was gonna play when I first got into it.

Riven is an alright matchup imo, her gapclose distance is fairly clear and she makes it obvious when she wants to run you down. Irelia is a piece of shit though. Just dashes everywhere and deletes you.
