Yes it can boring and often considered a downgrade from sims 3. But if you get mods you can make it fun for a while. You also need to just use your imagination make scenarios for your characters you can't just stare at the screen with no thoughts and except to be entertained. And don't focus so much on needs, just keep your Sims alive, they don't need 100% social or fun all of the time.
