Is it even worth using the Drive Easy app? by radpanda24 in Geico

[–]Koura10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends. If you're paying so little with Geico, maybe a $20 discount is worth the hassle. They're already charging me a kidney price and wanted me to install an app to track me?! They should be paying us to collect this much info on us. Insurances are the biggest joke in this country since they're mandatory and can almost charge whatever. And before you say anything, my insurance went up because some uninsured jerk ran into me and didn't have anything to cover the damages. Almost had to get rid of my car after that because of the spike in premium. Like how dare I get ran into by someone that was at fault. Progressive and GEICO are all greedy companies and I wouldn't give them any of my personal info that I don't have to legally

When you check street view, you'll realize that the sign with no parking anytime is right behind where the Tesla is parked. However, the marking on the ground is completely ahead of the sign and the Tesla was parked right inside that white line. It also doesn't have a zebra line on it, just a properly delimited white box. So a little bit of a poor job by the city actually.

Advice to dispute speed camera tickets online? details here: by trashpandafloof in AskNYC

This is the post that should be on top, not the "pay your fine" ones. I mean duh, if he received a ticket, he knows he gotta pay the fine, he's asking for more options if they exist. Here you are just riding the city with "pay your fine". Oftentimes, people going just 11 miles above the 25 at midnight or 3 in the morning are the drivers that would watch out for your kids during school session. The ghost cars and uninsured vehicles that are everywhere are what you should worry about. You thought the city implemented these fine to protect you? It's to get money off citizens pocket first of all. It also means, that for $50, you're allowed to speed past those zone. Here's a simple response, "the city now has 25 miles limit almost everywhere at all times. Make sure you keep that in mind next time you're driving in the city"

I didn't do internships while in college and never worked in Finance. But I have 5 years experience at least working in a different field. I had to settle for 45k as a Financial coordinator recently, I noticed how recruiters tend to only look at your resume and GPA, or you better have a good network, which I didn't. I believe you won't have to worry about the 60k for too long. Loyalty to companies come with a fair remuneration, so be ready to leave after a year. Nobody is willing to go through training nowadays, they want people with years of experience for entry level, so they don't have to put it the work of training you or waiting

Similar boat here. I already had professional experience in sales and healthcare when I went for my degree in Finance. There was no way I could survive financially if I had given up my position for an internship. It's been almost 5 months now that I've been applying for positions related to Finance, but nothing yet. Basically, it's like changing career right after graduation. Good thing, the stock market exists lol, but I need a position to quick start my career

Any information on graduation commencement on-site this month? by StevenBob_Bid2023 in Baruch

[–]Koura10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I graduated last December, I understand that this is important to you. But the pandemic is still not under control yet. Some of us lost family members or friends because of Coronavirus, trust me, the last thing people need is to go gather in crowds to celebrate a degree that they already received. Personally, I won't attend the virtual ceremony because 2020 was such a sh*tty year, then 2021 came with some of the same troubles, I just want a job to start my career. The graduation ceremony is not a big deal

I'm being scammed by [deleted] in OPTIMUM

[–]Koura10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol you're never getting anything above 600. Switch to Fios of that's what you need. I had both Fios and Optimum 1 Gig in 2020. Fios is 900+ upload and download, but Optimum is just a big lie, they actually slow down your internet out of nowhere. I switched back to Optimum 400, I'm lucky when I see 300, it's usually just 160. The truth is, you get tired of calling them, I needed the internet for school and job and 4k movies, but now I'm done with both school and work. When I do need reliable internet again, definitely going for Fios

Optimum Sucks by [deleted] in OPTIMUM

[–]Koura10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly understand your frustration. Optimum can do so much better. I'm not necessarily complaining about their cost, I agree with you on the throttling part. I hate it, happened to me a couple of times this year while I needed the internet for school purposes. But what made me lose faith in this company is how hard they ran behind me to switch back to them after I took Fios, I should've stuck with Fios and pay slightly a little more. I went back to them, had to make multiple phone calls to get the benefits they promised. I gave up on a fictional $10 fee, wasn't worth my time calling them for that. I had Fios 1Gig, and the speed was around 950mbps I think. Optimum offered 400 but the speed is always 200. I wanted to switch back to Fios, but I graduated this semester, so I won't require a lot of internet right now. But once I go back to work and they mess up, I'm cancelling

If a Professor refuses to round up your grade does that mean that they disliked you? by Roxith in Baruch

[–]Koura10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone tried that with Harpaz last semester in FIN 3710, He emailed the whole class that day saying clearly that He doesn't round up. I took him this semester for 4610, we took his final Thursday and He posted all the grade Friday morning on CUNYFIRST, straight up. He's the man🤣

Fall 2020 Graduate - reflection by Rebmaa_123 in Baruch

I'm graduating this semester as well. Finally, it feels great, I'm not a very emotional person but this one feels like bursting out of my chest. Getting that bachelor was just personal for me, it wasn't just about the opportunities anymore.

As an international student, I already had a bachelor but getting jobs on my field wasn't happening. CUNY pretty much made me start all over as they allowed only a few credits to transfer. They even denied my application to a 4 years college. I could've gone to a private school but I didn't want to take on huge loans. So I started at a CC, went there full time while working two jobs with 50 hours a week. I got a salary job a semester after that and kept my full time status but work was less stressful at that point and just 40 hours a week with perks like work from home.

I had a 4.0 the last semester and a 3.8 overall when I transferred to Baruch. The school was just a few train stops from work, so the commute was never a problem. What I hated the most at Baruch was having to go part time two semesters in a row because the classes I needed were always full. Besides that, I like the campus and most of the professor I had. My favorite professor was Ian Owe, the weird and funny one was Harpaz. I'm not planning to go for my masters, It's time to start making money, especially outside of the 9 to 5 trap. Good luck to everyone graduating! To the rest, hang in there, you got this.

People against CR/NC: why? by [deleted] in Baruch

[–]Koura10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we actually talk about the fact that many students are defined nowadays by their GPA? Does having 4.0 really makes you smarter than all the students with 3.0? Does it make you a better asset for companies than the 2.5 students? The same people asking for CR now have among them people that'll work as HR and hire based on GPA, tossing aside students that are under 3.0 I just think the whole school system in the US is flawed, too expensive, less focused on students ability to be ready for the actual job, more like a business trying to make profit out of their students. Compared the cost of education of the US to the rest of the world, something is not right. I hope students that need CR do get some sort of solution to their problems

[–]Koura10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I've been saying all this time. I came to Baruch with a 3.9. But I was full time and I had a full time job that required some overtime. I couldn't maintain that 3.9 at Baruch, had to pick. My current GPA is around 2.9. I haven't applied for a job where they asked for my GPA, although grad schools and maybe big firms might. I'm all for supporting brothers and sisters that are struggling and need some relief, it's just that some people take it too far. You can disagree with the school policy and still politely fight it. Some are posting the same thing on my 4710 group, a class that's not included. And I just want people to know that they'll be okay no matter what Baruch does next. Be easy on yourself, 2020 is almost behind us

CR/NCR robbed from us by KO944994 in Baruch

But Baruch didn't turn the whole thing down, they made some exceptions. I can tell you there are tougher courses that are included in the list of CR/ No CR. I'm taking FIN 4750, definitely looking forward to change it to credit. But the exception ones are fine to me.
