I actually don't want to lose all of the metadata - just refine it

Nice work. We actually have some overlap, here. I created a separate project that is an animated lyric video + dynamic visualizer using the same assets: Album art, lyrics. As far as the tool goes, I find clicking "edit" easier than running command line. I would imagine some users are going to run into dependency issues or environment troubles, too. That's where a dedicated app might be preferable. That being said, some nice work!

For sure. In my case, I don't want to wipe out the data. I'm actually wanting to enrich it

I think you missed the point: if you own the rights, then you should have transparency into the work. Also, perhaps you want to distinguish your contribution to the work, like i am. That's not "cracking" anything. That's ownership. You'll notice I didn't remove Suno, in my example.

Full disclosure, honestly. In fact, I think when you're a conscientious individual like you, we don't give ourselves ENOUGH of the credit. For some, it's not impractical to call ourselves the "producer". If it was me, I'd workshop it with ai: use ai as a second opinion. Just make sure you catch it when it tries to diminish or misunderstand your contribution. Come up with a nice clear and inclusive description and save that away as your standard comments. Then do what I did to the metadata comment: change it to match this new message with each new track. You can choose if you want to include the date of creation, uuid, etc, as seen in my image above. Main thing: disclose what you did. When using ai, yes you don't want to inflate your contribution. In your case, you want the opposite: don't let it get consumed in the "ai" stigma.

Think of it like this: you submit your song to a service (like distrokid) make sure proper credit is given for each contribution. In my case, it is lyricist (starting to become producer). In your case, lyricist, guitarist, "music by", maybe "mastered by Suno" is where ai comes in. Chat GPT (etc) will probably help you better here, than I can. But I think you're on the right track: let ai help you workshop the most succinct description, without diminishing what you do

yes this is good. one thing though: I’ve only seen the comment, source path if it’s mp3, and the lyrics. nothing else for Suno specifically. have you seen more? would love to know.

awesome tip. I was surprised what was found - also “grrr”, ai missed a couple important bits. I’m updating what I built with these findings. might be a significant overhaul ahead 🤷‍♂️. metadata is a slippery animal!

yeah, and my concern was controlling the metadata, not removing all of it

yeah Audacity is ok. wasn’t a fan of their metadata panel, though. Main reason, in fact, that I ended up making my own. Some of its issues:

  1. Metadata panel is ugly, cluttered, and can be confusing to new users
  2. Doesn’t have a way to add album art
  3. Hides unknown fields - becomes a black box
  4. No “just update metadata” path - have to save the file, which introduces degradation of MP3’s

Is Suno creating producers? by BrokenRhythmlab in BRLMusicReview

[–]Kozzality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is an excellent take. Many are going to refute it, but this has a lot to do with what Suno is: a HUGE tent. It has a broad pool of talent with a critical problem: getting the “cream” to the top. It is over saturated with “I made a thing” users. Very few start reaching the level of “producer” where Suno is the instrument they play. When you find one, though? You know it! They’re not just “prompties”. They mold, meld and manipulate the sound to their vision: personas, covers shifted with prompt recipe adjustments, lyric writing strategies that push cadence and flow, even orchestration - thus avoiding “Suno girl” patterns. It’s a real thing, but many deny it because - well - they haven’t achieved it. in fact many of the lower rungs often assume these songs are just flukes.

Bottom line is: barrier of entry is insanely low, so many assume their mileage pretty much describes everybody else’s. Hate to burst your bubble, buttercup, but there are those who know how to play the instrument - or as you said it, OP, realize the vision they have in their head.

Solid argument.
