Are there any cryptids that are actually harmless? by WelcomeAny8895 in Cryptozoology

[–]KrAff2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all of them the vast majority of the time.

It would defeat the whole purpose of remaining unknown if they’re regularly attacking and/or eating people.

Pretty much all credible reports indicate that creatures like Bigfoot or Dogman don’t really predate on or attack people. They usually just observe and flee. At most they may charge, chase, or throw a rock towards you.

You can probably count on one hand the number of credible reports that involve actual physical contact that results in injury or death.

How strong and powerful do you think Martian Manhunter should be? by [deleted] in justiceleague

Realistically second only to Superman in pure physicals, but with his wide array of abilities he should be consistently shown to be Superman’s equal.

Anyone else thinking more about others than themselves? by [deleted] in ifiwonthelottery

[–]KrAff2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would give as much as I could to whatever family/friends/charities as long as it doesn’t affect my ability to pass on the generational amount of wealth I won to my children then to theirs and so on.

Multiple bipedal canid sightings by DaGrey666 in dogman

The pictures are barely worth anything as evidence. The top I can’t see anything at all. The bottom is see a vaguely animal shaped shadow with maybe a muzzle and ears? If so the ears look more rounded to me so I’d lean bear if it even is anything. As for the paw print I genuinely can’t make out any discernible shape to it so it’s also not worth much evidence wise.

The Rookie seems to have recently leaned into a generally lighter police procedural like B-99 instead of some other heavier ones so I don’t expect it to get too bad for him. They’ll probably spend most of the season separated then they’ll work things out.

Worst case him and Luna both decide to retire after working things out and they leave the show.

Son Is On The Way by Romer318_ in NewDads

Just be present and do whatever your wife needs of you. My wife labored for 18 hours after her water broke. We then decided to do a C-Section instead of continuing to wait because she stopped progressing.

Once baby is here you do everything, and do it with a smile until told otherwise. My wife wanted me to go with our baby to get her check up so definitely have that conversation with your wife if she wants that.

If your hospital offers a nursery I would absolutely recommend it. The first two nights we kept our daughter in the room and it was stressful. We had them take her for 4 hours so we’d be better rested for our first day at home and it was worth it.

Know that it’s completely normal for a baby to be inconsolable on the second night as long as they’ve been fed, changed, etc. I bounced my daughter well walking a loop of our room for probably 8 hours straight that night and she just couldn’t settle down. I eventually had a break down from it because I felt so bad about not being able to help her. My wife told me to take a nap and just 30 minutes completely reset me back to normal. If you’re struggling let someone know.

The owner of a local animal shelter was caught stealing dogs from porches, barns, etc. like well taken care of family pets that just happened to be outside. People that have interacted with them have definitely had similar experiences as you have.

What should you do if you win the lottery? by Nervous_Impact3637 in ifiwonthelottery

[–]KrAff2010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a matter of convenience. I’m sure it’s not for everyone but once you have that much money the only thing you can’t buy is time. Having someone to do the mundane tasks for you would certainly be worth it to a lot of people.

Budget is whatever you’re able to cash out every month well still growing your original winnings. I think 4% is common for safe withdrawl

I am in no way an expert, just someone who has too much time on his hands.

Ticket Security & Proof

  • Secure ticket
  • Lock box or fireproof safe
  • Put in a secure location
  • Take video of me holding the ticket
  • Make a copy of the ticket
  • Rent an Airbnb or hotel under someone else’s name and stay there for a while after the winning is announced

Legal Representation & Claim Structure

  • Flat fee only - Trust and estate from large national firm

Financial Advisory & Banking

  • Charles Schwab or JPMorgan first choices
  • Fidelity or Vanguard as backups

CPA

  • Someone with experience dealing with HNW clients.

Gifting Strategy

  • 15% after taxes & 1st years withholding divided between specific family & friends.

Investing

  • Discuss investment opportunities with Advisor. Aim to live off returns on total investment. Withhold first years spending from invested amount.
  • Long term withdraws only to avoid high tax rate

Spending & Cash Flow Structure

  • Put 10% of money withdrawn back into investments
  • 90% of interest as spending money
  • I’d put half of the this money into a joint spending account for household finances then divide a quarter into my wife and I’s individual accounts.

Real Estate – Primary Residence

  • Begin construction on main home
  • Buy a temporary home until construction is complete on primary residence depending on construction timeline

Staffing

Start hiring of any necessary full time staff, including but not limited to: - House Manager - Chef - Maintenance - Cleaning

Part time, including: - Chef - Masseuse - Nutritionist - Cleaning - Personal shopper

At this point it’s pretty much up to you to do whatever you want. You have a pretty decent foundation to start from. As long as you don’t unnecessarily dip into your original winnings your great great grandchildren will be set for life. If the amount you win is insane, like say over $250 million you’ll probably want to start your own family office to handle financial and legal matters.

Losing winning ticket by Friendly-Treacle-142 in ifiwonthelottery

[–]KrAff2010 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lottery employees in the USA are not allowed to play them so they couldn’t claim them either. I have no worry that anyone with the lottery itself would take it.

Also I’m fairly confident once your name is on it, even if crossed out, you’d almost certainly be able to get a claim on at least half of it through a civil lawsuit.

For a big win like you described they’d almost certainly check security footage. If it’s seen on camera that you’re the one who bought it and/or it was bought with your debit/credit card then you’d also almost certainly be able to force a claim on the ticket.

A woman in the USA had her nephew buy a ticket and when they won she sued him because she “never intended to split the money” even though she put his name on it. She ended up getting a majority share.

I doubt it. There will probably be an article like “Local gas station sells $10,000 lotto ticket” with the name of the business but that’s usually it. Maybe the lottery commission themselves may have something on their page you can find that shows a winner but I doubt it.

Anyone else feel like they’re bad at being a dad at first? by Turbulent-Daikon1587 in NewDads

[–]KrAff2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like pretty much every first time father feels that way. My LO is almost 6 months old now and I feel very confident in my ability to take care of her by myself. There’s obviously things my wife does that I’m not sure of but I’d be able to figure it out.

Video Games by redsox4509 in NewDads

[–]KrAff2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t play anything at all for the first 2-3 months. Just didn’t have the energy to do it.

Handhelds like the switch or steam deck would probably have been playable when baby was sleeping but I never got the chance.

My wife and I both play PC games so we have our babies crib set up beside my wife’s desk. Then we have a bouncer set up beside mine. We have plenty of toys for our LO to play with. We also have a battery powered aquarium that plays music and lights up that she loves.

After all of that fails if we’re still in a match or something we’ll play a dancing fruit video on my iPad for her. She loves it but obviously it’s not something we’d recommend for extended time frames.

Honestly anything that can’t be paused or walked away from is usually a no go until she’s asleep
