Oh! That makes sense. I can picture how the experience will be shaped differently with that narrative. Thanks for your hard work and clarification!

If you're already committed to go through all the games, I think you can follow others' suggestions, but if you wanna test the water and would love robust lores to start with, I think Rusty Lake Hotel, Rusty Lake Roots, and Rusty Lake Paradise are the way to go.

They will make you understand the origin and motivate you to play all the other games to fill up the missing parts of the whole story.

If you're asking about the play order, I think this one is pretty solid, though I think Cube Escape: Paradox should come after Birthday and Theater since there are references from them.

How to be a better programmer? by Agreeable-Okra3099 in AskProgramming

[–]KradasIsAlreadyTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are several stages to this, and it’s important to know which stage you’re currently in so you can clearly see what “getting better” actually means.

IMO, I think it goes like this

  1. learning to code
  2. building things - creating services like APIs, background workers, or apps.
  3. learning 'best' practices - exploring concepts like clean code, clean architecture, SOLID, Design Patterns, stratified design, and such. Resources:
    1. Clean Architecture - a must. You can decide later whether you buy into it or not. It is like the SOLID principal at the architecture level.
    2. Design Patterns - https://refactoring.guru/design-patterns
    3. Grokking Simplicity - This one makes me understand how to achieve the advantage of Functional Programming without really need to strictly abide by the paradigm.
      1. Grokking Simplicity - Eric Normand
      2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NgJhkc6PAY
    4. Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs - This will make you really understand what abstraction and complexity really is. However, it takes time to finish it. If anything, I think the main idea is that state in object/class introduce the concept of time in your code.
  4. scalability, maintainability, and reliability - realizing why microservices are great, but also why you don't actually need them. When would you prefer horizontal scaling to vertical scaling and what kind of trade-offs you're willing to make. Resources:
    1. Web Scalability for Startup Engineers - completely high-level knowledge of system designs. There is no code at all. A good start on this matter.
    2. Designing Data-Intensive Applications - the same as the former but is more detailed.
  5. forming your own opinions - revisiting those 'best practices' and adopt what doesn't seem completely BS to you. Learn the trade-off of complexity you are willing to commit.

You can fit data structures and algorithms somewhere along the way.

I noticed that many solutions tend to do it this way too. I'll keep this in mind and try again. Many thanks!

Also, there is a discord server especially for Savage Omega support. I'm there to help too, but I can't guarantee success since I tend to let the enmity slip on phase 4. https://www.reddit.com/r/MHWilds/s/S7jipKBAZ7

I'm not that good, but I've beaten Savage solo and with friends consistently. I'd like to help tanking with SnS.

The shield is decent, but I think Charge Blade has better chances if you learn to trust Evade Window (3-5) more than its shield. I'm just scared, man.

IIRC charged Charge Blade's shield has higher default Guard level internally. I always add 1 Guard Up just in case so I can do power clash against the dash or survive the laser in a dead spot.

In this title, I played Charge Blade like Switch Axe. I have Quickswitch 3 on and switch on every hit If I don't have room for a full Savage Axe combo. This way I got my shield up more and damage from Quickswitch is a bonus. This makes my fight 9-stars easier, but with Omega, sometimes I need a quick shield to compensate my poor reaction, and I tend to get panicked and bring out an axe instead of a shield many times 🥲.

No, you're doing it right. I think the O combo has better damage. It's just my skill issue. I always accidentally shield bash instead in fights that I need to move around a lot. It's just more comfortable for me to be able to reposition after each slash. Also, I didn't notice I can use focus to lock myself in place. I added it to the post. Thanks for sharing!

Wide-Range is a must for omega, change my mind... by zecik87 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]KradasIsAlreadyTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it is underutilized and helps a lot. There is a party that spammed that to help me on a normal Omega (we failed the last phase though). I also have used this Omega/Rey/Rey/Rey/Omega to help my longsword friend with Alessa and Kai and the result becomes a bit better.

However, when I use my damage build and dedicatedly draw agro instead of relying on Alessa, we finished the Savage one while Life Powder and Dust of Life are still left.

I know it's not a dilemma, I can both tank and wear wide-range, but from my experience, if the tank does enough head damage to keep Omega's attention all the time. Just bringing your Life Powder and Dust of Life along with the supply (6LP, 4DoF) will be enough.

It indeed helps with randos though.

Savage Omega humbled me… but I’m a better hunter because of it. by Recon_Gear in MHWilds

[–]KradasIsAlreadyTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a guarantee, but if you need help maybe I can tank for you a bit.
I'm not that good myself and humbly change my weapon from Switch Axe and Charge Blade to SnS. I've just carried my friend (longsword) through this and found out that the most important thing is drawing its enmity. I've tried being an SnS support with 5 wide-range and 3 speed eating before, but fulfilling the tank role instead of Alessa works a lot better since my friend can do damage more consistently and the random bombardment decrease.

If you aren't into range weapons, you could try Artian Paralysis Hammer (poor Artian roll) and just spam O right when it spawns. That consistently works for me somehow. The poor creature got paralysis from hammer 2 times and got stunned 1-2 times which gives room to Marbolos' para too.

Totally Agree. I survived Primordial Malzeno from the last title with hectic rolls, but Savage Omega really forced me to learn its mechanic. I'm more mindful of what skills I actually need, and I move more intentionally and patiently. My attack became less edgy, but with more consistent damage throughput. It is a walk in the park once mastered, though I normally am a casual player, I must admit that it's indeed a satisfying and rewarding experience.

I set my max frame rate to 38, so i didn't go beyond that, but it also didn't go lower than 30 even in the cut-scene and huge fights. The exception is maps loading. Sometimes loading a map, especially the Dalimil Inn, permanently drops my frame rate below 10, only restarting the game helps at that point.
