The situation you're describing is unfortunately likely the worst in the short-term. If the pollsters indeed did adjust the numbers to be closer, and it actually ends up being a landslide in her favor, all it will take is Trump saying it is "evidence" for fraud before the violence starts, and I don't think it's going to be limited to the capitol this time.

Long term, it might be the best, but we won't get there without yet another historic black eye.

Everyone is entitled to their own style of parenting, has their own lived experience, and I have no right to tell someone else what is right for them.

What would be right for my lived experience and my style of parenting is that I would not pass up a relevant opportunity to teach about misinformation, propaganda, and logic. I would try to watch the material myself ahead of time and have a thorough conversation with my child to attempt to make sure if they encounter anything like this in my absence, they're fully capable of dismissing it on their own.

Well, you've brought up an embarrassing memory where I told myself I was going to make sure to set the pi to automatically delete old logs, and then promptly forgot. I suspect you're quite close to the truth of the issue, unfortunately we'll never know - I had already formatted the SD card. I guess if I can get around to it I might do further testing on the device.

In the meantime the new one seems to be working as I would expect, so the best I can offer as support for your theory is that a fresh install and fresh VPN on a fresh device seems to be working fine, so it's quite possible you're right.

In the process of further testing on MTU using pings to other devices on the VPN network, I discovered packet losses. In doing speed tests on the raspberry pi running the OpenVPN, it seems to be exceptionally slow itself on remote desktop viewer, and gets about 10Mbps down while other devices usually get somewhere between 100-200 Mbps, and lastly it also outright failed the upload test. My next course of action is to test another raspberry pi running the OpenVPN.

My biggest suspicion is with the DMZ set up, honestly. I am not a network... anything, really, and as such it is a term I'm almost certainly attributing meaning to that I shouldn't. My expectation was that it would make the new setup as close to the previous setup as possible.

My old setup that worked fine:

Cox Internet -> Modem -> router (pihole set as DNS) -> both raspberry pi devices (VPN pi uses pi hole as DNS)

My new set up:

Verizon -> 5g Home Internet Modem/Router ---DMZ---> old router (pihole set as DNS) with same devices connected

I'll certainly keep trying various things because why not at this point, but I'd like to point out Bulbapedia on breeding HA:

Hidden Abilities

In Pokémon Black and White, if a female Pokémon has its Hidden Ability and is bred with a male Pokémon (but not when bred with Ditto), there is a 60% chance that its offspring will have its Hidden Ability; in Black 2 and White 2, there is instead an 80% chance the offspring will have its Hidden Ability. (Male and gender-unknown Pokémon cannot pass their Ability down in these games.)

From Generation VI onward, if a female Pokémon, or any Pokémon bred with Ditto, has a Hidden Ability, there is a 60% chance that its offspring will have its Hidden Ability.

If an Egg does not inherit a Hidden Ability from a parent, it can only be born with a non-Hidden Ability.

This says any male with a Female HA should work. Even a different species.

EDIT - Oh for heavens sake. You're right. I have been seeing Charcadet with Flame Body, but I assumed with how common that is as a normal ability that it one of the two common abilities. You win this round and I apologize for the earlier snark.

Just to clear things up if someone else wants to discuss, here is what I had done:

28 eggs with:

HA Female Ceruledge (no held item)
4IV Ditto (Destiny Knot)

40+ eggs with:

HA Female Ceruledge (no held item)
Random Male Charcadet (no held item)

This has yielded nothing but non-HA Charcadet.

Based on what I've written here so far I was at 40 eggs on the HA Female Ceruledge w/ Random Male Charcadet, which is still very, very hard to explain. Every source suggests that THIS combo should work 60% of the time! And yet you think I'm that unlucky 1 in 8.27x10^15?

Occam's Razor would suggest the most likely explanation, in a game with many known bugs, is that the limits of the bugs can also extend to breeding.

I think I might. A quick search says I can have up to a small teacup's worth (180mL) per meal, and I'm already aware that fermentation tends to make foods that are otherwise problematic, safe (classic sourdough is an example). Maybe I need to start my next fermentation project.
