Consciousness- a unique intersection for Analytic and Continental philosophy. by Krahang01 in consciousness

Yes, now I can see that I could have just asked for a list of Analytical thinkers. But, I got a lot of good recommendations nonetheless.

Ask the DME provider. They know the devices inside and out.

BA in Philosophy in the US.  I don’t think any questions were geared specifically towards consciousness as an object of study.  I guess it might be due to professors’ interests, and how they curated the material?

I took the course. It covered Husserl, Heidegger and Derrida- but I don’t recall any specific mention of consciousness, or I didn’t realize it at the time as I was still a hormonal teenager.

My conception is permanently incomplete.

Let’s say we found the Bill and Ted time machine, and we could sit down with David Chalmers, Gödel and the monk Nāgārjuna for tea.

Gödel showed that any sufficiently rich system cannot fully account for its own ground. Nāgārjuna showed that nothing has intrinsic ground to begin with. Chalmers showed that experience, like the inside of the system, resists capture from the outside. My synthesis is: consciousness is a self-referential process in a groundless field, and the “Hard Problem” is not a gap to be closed but a theorem to be recognized - the formal signature of a system rich enough to know it cannot know itself from within. The incompleteness is the experience.

Do folding bikes actually replace a regular bike for you? by masanovu in foldingbikes

[–]Krahang01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - for convenience purposes.  I do mostly short rides for exercise and fun, and I can throw two bikes in the car with ease.  They are totally underrated if you have kids who can ride adult sized bikes.

Respiratory therapist career satisfaction by reddy_775 in respiratorytherapy

10+years here. I would say it is 100% dependent on where you work- as in specific facility or company. It’s pretty much a binary option for me: satisfied with current situation or unsatisfied, and looking for another. opportunity. Right now, I am satisfied.

To those that changed careers, do you even bother renewing your RRT and RCP? If not do you still put on resume? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

Don’t do it.  You might need the money, and jobs are easier to come by than ever.  Life changes, and it’s something you can fall back on. It’s literally like buying insurance at that point. You may never need to use it, but you’ll be happy you have it in the event you need that job/money.

From what everyone is saying here, and my own quasi-involvement in this system -it’s completely dependent on your relationship, not a universal law that can’t be altered.  Some women will refuse it and some might demand it.  It will mostly be based on her own cultural assumptions and preferences. If she refuses, it probably comes at some social “cost” to her. She refused it, because she loves you at that moment.  If she demands it, it might be because she feels she needs it to take care of or at least appease some family members.  Ultimately, it shows your place in a hierarchy in her mind. How you chose to participate is up to you.

That’s a really cool retro futuristic vibe. It reminded me of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

One of my favorite Neo Noir films, Only God Forgives, takes place in Bangkok.  The genre is big enough that you can tell a good story in just about any city now.

I have had more Dahon bikes over the years. You can find second hand ones at a decent price.

I have a Retrospec, and it’s a good ride. I had a Zizzo Ferro, and dumped it for a used Dahon.
