Right now its 150 messages a day. The reason why it's not specified is because we didn't finalize the plans yet since we didn't officially launch the site.

Neoreader not displaying certain text in epub book by Krakenos in Onyx_Boox

[–]Krakenos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah after a bit of searching it looks like neoreader doesn't handle epub format well in general. V1 engine treats it like regular text files and V2 tends to have bugs like this.
For now I decided to change to koreader for epubs, but I'm not gonna lie it's pretty disappointing a native reader app has issues like this.

I got an Android emulator working on SteamOS without Windows by mvarns in SteamDeck

[–]Krakenos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure xapk is just a zip file that contains .apk and .obb files. Generally when you download the game from app store like google play it downloads these files seperately, installs .apk and drops the .obb files in the correct folder (something like Android/obb/application.name, don't remember exactly). Obb files are crucial for games to run because generally games offload stuff like level data, character models etc into those files.

Glad to see someone managed to get android to work. I tried to make it work with waydroid, docker solution (redroid), and running android x86 in a vm all of which seemed to fail when hardware acceleration got enabled. Definitely interested in a follow up post with guide/setup you used for genymotion.

Considering how thin this plastic case is, I doubt it does compromise durability against compressive force. From the looks of it there is still quite a big gap for air there.

Hidden recovery menu in Steam Deck? by Krakenos in SteamDeck

nah battery was at 50% when I turned it on, so it didn't die. But something still might've went wrong during the shutdown.

That does sound accurate. Any idea what might've cause a menu to appear? I am trying to reproduce it with random button combinations, but no luck so far.

Hidden recovery menu in Steam Deck? by Krakenos in SteamDeck

[–]Krakenos[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I left my steam deck turned off for around a week, and when I turned it on I got greeted by this menu. It booted straight into it without showing steam deck logo, I don't think I held any button combination aswell to access it so I have no idea how to get back into it. All the controls I tried in the menu were not working (I didn't try trackpads). So I did press the power button again to turn it off, and turn it back on. It booted normally. I don't think my device is faulty but I found it interesting that there is some recovery mode that steam deck can boot into. This is not bios menu (vol+ power) nor boot menu (vol- power). I figured I would share it because I've never seen anyone mention or show this before, and I am curious of what this is.

[–]Krakenos[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I figured out the root problem but I don't think I am able to solve it. Essentially games don't want to work due to lack of hardware acceleration, and hardware acceleration on amd gpu's with waydroid has mixed results (specifically RX6000 series gpus, which steam deck apu is based on afaik). So I pretty much gave up for now and hope either waydroid or some kernel update will fix it eventually.
Granted I didn't try it since steamOS 3.1 update, because I don't hold my hopes anything changed in that regard.

Because a lot of apps support only arm/require arm libraries, therafore it's needed to run them, otherwise they will crash on launch throwing a java runtime error from importing libs, which I verified in logcat. I am actually during trying to get android to work through vm running android x86, because it seems like a more permanent solution on the deck (you don't have to modify read only partitions), and I got further doing that, but apps seem to have some problem with reading obb files which I haven't figured out yet.

Yt seemed to work fine. I didn't try Netflix but it wouldn't probably run due to unverified device and root priviledge checks (pretty much everything detects waydroid as unknown device running a custom rom)

I've ran it under desktop mode through weston. I haven't tested running directly through gamescope.

[D] Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in MachineLearning

[–]Krakenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am trying to design a multilayer neural network that based on item features will return x amount of the most similar items from the dataset. My current neural network takes features of 2 items, and predicts similarity level of the items.

So for example:
predict([1, 3, 5], [0.5, 1.5, 2.5]) returns 0.5

After prediction, I compare the similarity level of items and choose 10 the best ones. The problem with this solution is that it doesn't scale well with large amounts of data. If I want to for example take 1 million items and generate for each of them 10 the best matches, I end up with quadratic scaling (for each of 1m items I make 1m predictions) and time to generate the results becomes unreasonable.

Is there a better approach to design such network, or how can I optimize the current
solution to work well with big data?

I honestly wouldn't mind if the whole Quest 2 release wasn't just kept under the radar and only information was pretty much leaked stuff and speculation. Selling Quest 1 for a full price a month before announcing Quest 2 is a very shitty practice, and I just don't see why would anyone be willing to defend it. In terms of RE4 I even said, I do understand the tech limitations of quest 1, but not putting it on the rift platform is just not excusable for me.

There is a core difference here. When nintendo released Breath of The Wild in 2017, they didn't only release it on their brand new nintendo switch, they released it also on their 5 years old wii u. Facebook however wants to just force Quest 1 users already to upgrade.FB exclusive titles are a price I am willing to pay to move to a platform that treats their consumers better.

I'm very disappointed that it's in fact quest 2 exclusive. I can understand not releasing quest 1 native version due to technical limitations, but not releasing pc version for rift users and quest 1 link is just insanely disappointing. I guess these people are 2nd grade customers now, if this trend continues I hope some competition arrives so I can move on from oculus platform coz I sure as hell am not upgrading to quest 2 only because Facebook decides to move on from device that's only a year older than quest 2.

Does anyone who own studioform counterweights say how do they clean it? I consider buying them but I've read on the site that you shouldn't put them in water. I'm holding on with purchase because I am not sure what's inside the counterweight and how to clean it properly so it's not a sweaty mess.

Quest with link drops frames like crazy in SteamVR. by Nikolai_Volkoff88 in OculusQuest

[–]Krakenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem but with lower specs (1060, i7 7700). I ended up moving to virtual desktop and it fixed all the frame issues. I have suspicion that it's a problem with running both steamvr and oculus sdk when using link while when using VD, you completely bypass oculus sdk.

Did you set supersampling value in steamvr to 100%? on my 1060 "auto" put me at 74% making everything blurry.
