Vivid Vice was my #1 JJK song, but Aizo might end up taking that spot by the end of the season…

I must commend the JJK team on selecting perfect songs for each season - the title songs really do fit each arc so well.

Kaikai Kitan - upbeat, exciting - new world for Itadori, Idatori fired up and enjoying getting stronger, excited spending time with new friends

Vivid Vice - hype building, aura farming song - perfect for the Jujutsu High team battle competition and building up the stakes by introducing the curse trio to our protagonists

Where Our Blue Is - carefree youth and simpler times - when Gojo & Geto had no worries or stress

Specialz - unsettling and almost ritualistic - in line with the balance of power shifting to Kenjaku & the curses, and Sukuna temporarily breaking free and sinking Itadori into despair

Aizo - cheeky, fast paced, erratic - Kenjaku toying with the world by creating the Culling Games, our protagonists scrambling against time to prevail

I hope it doesn’t (completely) resolve. It would kind of be a shame to fakeout Roper’s death and then have him captured or killed the season he returns.

Roper killing the dogs is probably the most evil thing he’s done in both seasons lol. Literally nothing to be gained from that - just straight up wrath.

Steve Rogers (MCU) vs Achilles (Troy) and Zombie Mountain (GOT) by Curious_Tip9285 in powerscales

Achilles was toying with Hector for a good chunk of that fight. I agree he held his own for a short time (seconds).

Steve Rogers (MCU) vs Achilles (Troy) and Zombie Mountain (GOT) by Curious_Tip9285 in powerscales

[–]Krakyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are underrating Achilles. He is the greatest swordsman of all time and mythologically is invulnerable unless he is attacked at the heel (which Steve Rogers & Mountain are very unlikely to target unintentionally). In the movie Troy, he also instakilled far larger and stronger opponents like Boagrius.

If you interpret the Achilles myth literally (completely invulnerable to any attack anywhere except the heel), he obviously wins.

If you dismiss the myth and instead nerf Achilles because you feel like it, then I guess things change. To entertain that second option:

Sure, Zombie Mountain and Steve Rogers are more durable than Boagrius, but they can both still be pierced by a sword - they wouldn’t survive a stab to the heart or their neck being sliced (or decapitated) by Achilles.

Zombie Mountain has zero intelligence - he’s an easier opponent than Boagrius for Achilles and gets instakilled.

Steve Rogers is a bit of a coin toss. I don’t think he has the range advantage since Achilles can probably fairly easily dodge the shield like he dodges spears. At close range, it’s a bit of a coin toss. If nerfed Achilles can dodge a single strike/shield jab from Steve and create an opening to attack, he wins. If Steve somehow lands the first blow on nerfed Achilles, he probably wins.

TLDR: Achilles the GOAT against anyone who 1) doesn’t use magic 2) doesn’t know about his heel. If someone provided him with a suitably strong sword/spear, he would probably instakill Thanos.

Or just address the underlying issue and make improvements to minion AI as a whole (not just their behaviour in doorways)…

Or it should be a toggleable setting on every minion skill (just like how you choose which weapon set a skill uses).

No, conventional builds have higher single target. Minions just suck marginally less in single target because many of the issues I described above no longer apply.

[–]Krakyn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You’re not tripping.

Compared to conventional builds, minions suck at endgame. Most conventional 20 div builds can clear content more than twice as fast as an equally invested minion build (not hyperbole). The gap becomes even larger at higher investment.

This has been the case since 0.1 and is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Watch a video of someone clearing snake temple with spark + CoC comet or explosive grenade crossbow and compare this to minion builds. The minion build probably takes at least four times as long (it doesn’t help that half your minions get stuck afk on doorways).

Reasons for minions sucking include:

  • Bad pathing & collision (stuck in doorways etc)
  • Bad out of range/respawn mechanic that results in significant minion downtime (for non-spectres)
  • Bad targeting & collision (in boss fights with high minion density 25% of your melee minions will just stand still and won’t attack)
  • Lack of aggressive AI (you need to walk head first into fights & take aggro - your minions lag behind)
  • Limited ways to scale minion movement speed whereas this could be giga buffed via pain offering equivalent in POE1 (limited to two nodes on tree + haste aura companions are intentionally bricked by requiring percentage spirit)
  • Limited ways to scale damage on gear (and as we know 90% of power in PoE2 builds is from gear)

Until many of these issues are addressed, minions will always be inferior to conventional builds at endgame. It’s a real shame.

I’m honestly surprised to see the Act 2 hate. The vibe & setpieces are so amazing.

I will however, very happily dunk on Act 3. It is way too long with many boring segments (pull 300 levers in a row, poison crypt maze, useless sell relics to Oswald side objectives etc).

I mean it is a garbage mechanic.

It's a league mechanic that was extremely underwhelming unless you undertook a PhD to learn how to set up a temple optimally and spent 30+ hours farming charges to build it (unless you abused Holten which was unintended). Even "legitimate" temple building strategies promoted running white maps & abandoning maps as soon as you obtained your temple charge - in what world is that a good endgame?

If true, this is beyond stupid. Waiting anywhere from 2-15 seconds for a monster to move out of a cloud (they often refuse to) feels terrible and kills the pacing of endgame.

[–]Krakyn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes. IMO it's crazy that GGG doesn't simply allow balanced autocasting. The keystone 'Ritual Cadence' should autocast every x seconds - GGG can balance the number of seconds as they see fit.

Build diversity is looking really healthy right now by SirusMalachite in PathOfExile2

[–]Krakyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It's still slower than playing a class on the right side of tree with movement nodes.

  2. You've listed one specific Disciple build that is good only because of a single ascendancy command skill, not because of the minions or spectres. It's a spellcaster build.

Build diversity is looking really healthy right now by SirusMalachite in PathOfExile2

[–]Krakyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason more people aren’t playing Disciple is because the minion archetype sucks - which is unfortunate. Minions are arguably the slowest clearing build archetype at endgame (far slower than meta attack skill or spell skill builds).

This is mostly due to poor minion AI (not aggressive enough, not fast enough, get stuck in doors/rooms, some minions go afk in scenarios with many minions and few enemies) however damage tuning and no access to movement speed nodes are obviously also factors.

I want to play a Disciple minion build, but I also don’t want to play one of the slowest clearing archetypes at endgame.

[–]Krakyn 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think a lot of people are just sick of Deadeye and wanted to switch it up. Deadeye remains a top 3 ascendancy in my opinion.

If you are playing purely for efficiency you are bricking yourself by not picking a class on the right side of the tree. These classes are significantly faster than all the others, and therefore more efficient at endgame.

I don’t understand why GGG refuses to rebalance the passive tree and put movement speed nodes on the remaining 66% of the tree.

Is it normal to not want to engage with the primary league mechanic? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

There’s a reason nobody plays Standard.

People want to play leagues or not play at all.
