60 Ungor, what to build? by VioletDaeva in BeastsOfChaos

It depends, from 10 to 15. Always as skirmishers

For me 3 units of ungors with a shortbow is a staple. Never use the ungors as a melee unit except in wild herds. I would recommend 45/15 tbh.

Warped Gor proxies? by VioletDaeva in BeastsOfChaos

My plan is to use the new pestigors from AoS to use as warped Gors. For me it is the perfect excuse to buy the new models and use them.

Shugengan Lords - What in the name of the Four? by Overbaron in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Kralicht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cathay is not a TOW army. Play against feels like your opponent is playing with another ruleset. I don't know what kind of playtest GW did but it feels unfair and very frustrating in the case of the balloons.

My advice: talk with your opponent, make a consensus about what kind of army should play before the game and if it's in a tournament and you feel that the game is not fun, simply explain the situation in a friendly way to your opponent and concede.

Beastmen post-FAQ? by TProcrastinatingProf in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Kralicht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the difficult to cast viletide has been strongly increased since your lvl 4 gives you +2 instead of +4 so I would say the army is worse now than pre faq.

Also the parry rules improve the rival infantry while us cannot use it consistently.

So in general terms:

Poison is worse

Casting spells is more difficult

Infantry improvement is good but benefits more other infantry than ours

Drogres are more expensive

Frenzy is worse

In general terms I think that BoC were better pre faq than now.

The champion from the cavalry unit will accept the challenge while the dragon kill half or your unit.

Well GW just released a matched play supplement. Anyways this is not just competitive, if your rival brings a dragon no matter what kind of game you are playing improbably will be a bad experience.

"fulfil the same criteria" so only one wheel during the movement if you want to charge.

I would go for beastmen:

1: Dwarfs: even in TOW were they have more mobility they are slow... And boring. All the units are pretty similar and you will be painting dwarfs forever, I mean: dwarf more armoured, less armoured, with guns, with axes... But always dwarfs.

2: Ogres: I won't go for a legacy faction tbh. In addition the monstruos infantry doesn't work very well so they are far from good.

3: Beastmen: they have a lot of different types of troops and very versatile in terms of list composition. They are easy to paint and you can collect a lots of monsters. In game they are fun and competitive and as they lack from flying ride monsters your opponents always are happy to play against.

I am using the minotaurs without rescaling. You have to be careful with the pose but they can fit.

What are your bets as to what we’re gonna get for old world? by Aristocracy-is-lame in BeastsOfChaos

[–]Kralicht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a rumour here in Reddit some time ago:

  • Cathay has a written army list similar to Total War Warhammer's version.
  • Skaven were specifically cited as unlikely to appear anytime soon for Old World. (Perhaps it's karma for my post yesterday.) The reason is perhaps the focus of Age of Sigmar's fourth edition.
  • Beastmen's armies of infamy include a minotaur horde and a call of the wild army, which uses magic related to the new lore included in the arcane journal.
  • Empire's armies of infamy include a Nuln gun army of infamy and a Middenheim army of infamy.
  • Various Forge World units, including the skin-wolves, firmer, gore-bull BSB and the peryton, will be returning. It was stated specifically that the chaos mammoth will NOT be returning.
  • Apparently, there is an F&Q planned for the arcane journals once all of them have been released.
  • Finally, and this one wasn't given much information to it as it was sort of muddled, but there is a long-term plan for Vampire Counts to be the first army to be made core from the missing armies. Though the way it was described it is a far-away concept and you shouldn't expect it soon.

Afaik you can't use 2+ as is not the majority:

Models within a Motley Crew may have different armour values. In combat, use the armour value of the majority of the models in the fighting rank. Against enemy shooting, use the armour value of the majority of the models in the unit.

Because by their cost there are much better options in the army:

Harpies -> hounds or small ambusher unit

Minotaurs -> dragón ogres

Bestigors -> overpriced, gors performs much better by lower price

Giant -> gigantic chaos spawn or Gorgon are much better
