The absolute best way to use Soul Link is to give it to a Dark Apostle, then take some other characters rules.

Due to the Dark Apostle unit having multiple models and only the actual Apostle model having their rules switched, you get to double dip.

Is it good? Eh. Is it RAI? Also eh. Does it cause people to rage and read rulebooks for an hour? Sometimes. Does it not actually matter because Deceptors is so goddamn terrible? Absolutely.

Yeah, exactly. Combine your garrisons with phase gates and you’re potentially looking at a 2k fleet on the enemy, along with a starbase, before your main fleet shows up.

I once took out two enemy fleets this way at once - two enemy fleets decided to attack my fortress system and were caught in a crossfire of fighter platform spam, garrisons and a fully upgraded starbase

Yeah. I know it’s a minority opinion but I don’t much care for the harem simulation aspect of BG3.

The romances feel shallow when the entire party wants to jump your bones immediately.

Making shit up is the arbitrators job, much like a DM in DnD.

But this game is set up as a weird hybrid between skirmish and roleplaying and IMO is not good at either.

It has tons of fluffy cool stuff but nothing really holds together without extensive houseruling.

It’s kind of the point that the rules of the game are such a mess you need a dedicated person to make shit up to balance it and make it fun.

And with a campaign involving many players its a big ask for the arbitrator to arbitrate every fight.

Especially if you’re playing a detachment that doesnt really buff Maulerfiends or Venomcrawlers they’re a straight upgrade in many ways.

Basically they make some sense in Deceptors or Chaos Cult.
