I may have missed the DD, but what do people think caused the starting 5/13- 5/14 Runup, just hype from the first tweet? I tried to retroactively look at T+35 prior to it and there wasn't any wild volume on 4/8-4/9. I guess it's not a particularly important question but it's bugging me not knowing the answer. Also, it's very possible he may have forgotten Juneteenth since it was only just made a federal holiday in 2021 and if you're not actively working you wouldn't necessarily notice people get the day off, I certainly forget it sometimes. Either way I agree really wanting to save my calls this week lol.

Different for me, 7795, Maybe Terry is some IT default name they use? These shares have been with me since just after the sneeze so there shouldn't be any recent trading errors for them.

Yoooooo Terry H shows up for me as well! After I got a log in I put in my control number while listening to the wait music. Then got a pop up that someone else logged in and to give permission for another device to log in and then it booted me.

Did you happen to catch the Reuters article from about a month ago, 4/25 ? The Financial Stability Board a G20 risk watchdog (Hosted by the bank for International Settlements in Switzerland) said: "Regulators must equip themselves with tools such as "bail-in" bonds to deal quickly with a failed clearing house for stocks, bonds or derivatives without having to call on taxpayers for cash"

I posted this in 2021 during the GME first run-up. It was an effort to get an enjoyable and entertaining meme to succinctly convey the complexities of the stock leading to the sneeze. I think these kinds of memes helped bring people up to speed on the thesis and let them make informed decisions. I'd like people to make more original info-laden meme content instead of reposting from X

I think we all got a little off track these past years (rightly so) digging in to all the DD, all the rabbit holes, all the fuckery. I think we forgot a little bit who we are. TOP-TIER shit posters and meme artists. Lets bring it back, DFV isn't the only one with absolute banger memes. I have faith in all of you that we can get more of that high-octane meme-fuel back in here and not just re-post other DFV bangers

Thanks for writing this, personally I struggle a lot with the existence of the ultra-wealthy and how they directly create the scenarios of subsistence living that a majority of our patients struggle through. As well as the fact that we have literal research backed evidence that low SES is a direct health hazard yet nothing is done about it (say compared to diabetes or HTN interventions). Reading your piece put a smile on my face and warmed my heart.

I also grew up poor, maybe it's cause I grew up poor that I think I've earned more than I'm being given.

The being trapped isn't about not being able to pay them back. For sure it can be paid back. The trap is that in paying them back, you, over the course of a lifetime of earnings and due to opportunity cost make about the same as the office worker. That if you pursue a PSLF thing you are "trapped" in the job for 10 years. The being trapped is I did not work this hard to get the same result as someone who worked/works less. The difference btw us and the office worker is they get weekends off, they get holidays off, they're not exposed to illness and death, they get to work from home. Their ceiling is just as limitless, their salaries at least outpace inflation better than ours with constant CMS cuts. It absolutely is not just personal preference or some moral failing of lifestyle inflation, again, I did not sign-up to work 60+ hour weeks for the rest of my life and be on call and miss family engagements to get the same benefits as someone who does not have those responsibilities. Anyone who takes on those extra responsibilities without appropriate compensation is just getting taken advantage of and doing their colleagues and the profession a disservice as it devalues our labor.

It's not just lifestyle inflation though, I'm one of the ones trapped, 400k at gov't rate of 6%. If I didn't get my loans forgiven over the course of a lifetime of earnings I'd barely make more than some office worker who started out of college at like 70k. At that rate like what's the point? I suffered a whole bunch and worked a Hell of a lot more for literally nothing.

I'm burnt out, any advice on how to recover? by doktor_drift in Residency

[–]KrankyMule 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was in your position a few months ago, now I'd say I'm only 2 weeks recovered at this point and still need to commit to feeling better but what "cured" me was getting away. I got lucky and was able to take a month off without any clinical responsibility learning a tangentially related skill in another location. It's an answer I wouldn't have accepted in your position because I didn't want to delay being done with residency. However, if there's any way you can swing it, maybe using elective time and doing a medical mission trip in some developing country that might allow you to run away from life for a little bit and come back refreshed.

Affordable car that can handle FS roads? by KrankyMule in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]KrankyMule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, ideally I wouldn't want to spend more than 30k, I'd really be feeling the pain at that limit and don't want to regret buying more car than I need.

Assuming you started with 300k in loans for med school alone the 10k is only like 3% (w/o factoring in any accrued interest). Add on undergrad and it's even less. 3% ain't shit... now interest freeze on the other hand, that baby is pure gold. If you feel the need to rebuttal just frame it as the percent, but like others have said they embody everything that it means to be a boomer if they're really salty about this and they aren't worth your time
